I’m guessing fog, combined with too fast driving and slippery roads led to a famous pile up.

I think I read ice. Climate violence?
Geez. Slow down, be aware of weather and road conditions. Stay safe.
It was 15 degrees yesterday, and below freezing for several days, when freezing rain started after midnight, and continues even now. Expected to not reach above freezing until after noon. All trees are glistening in a coating of ice. The fact that it is the first weather event of the season makes it still worse, as there is no residual salt on the road from prior events.
Mixed precipitation of rain and frozen rain hitting cold ground, and in this case elevated freeway. My wife tried to leave for an early errand and took a tumble on the steps. She came back inside and went to bed.
It’s freakin’ ice. Stay inside.
My son and family live in DC...lots of ice this morning.
