Ivanka Trump will reportedly have an office in an area of the White House typically reserved for the first lady after her father becomes president.
The reports come amid speculation as to what part Donald Trumps eldest daughter will play in his administration.
Ms Trump has been an influential figure throughout the campaign and transition process, and it emerged last week that she would be taking a leave of absence from the Trump Organisation, where she is an executive vice president, and moving to Washington along with her husband Jared Kushner, who serves as one of his father-in-laws closest advisers.
Meanwhile Melania Trump, the president-elects wife, will remain in New York until her ten-year-old son Barron finishes school.
Those announcements presented the possibility that Ivanka would fill in for her stepmother as first lady.
While that would be an unusual arrangement, CNN reported on Wednesday that Ms Trump will have an office in the East Wing of the White House, in an area typically reserved for the first lady.
The network attributed that report to a transition source, who added that Ms Trumps official White House title was still to be determined.
While it remains unclear whether Ms Trump will become the de facto first lady, she is expected to continue to work closely with her father after he takes office. She sat in on Mr Trumps meeting last month with prime minister Shinzo Abe of Japan, and is on the executive committee overseeing his transition to the presidency.

Yes, I was stunned when I learned how huge a staff Mooch had. I bet Melania has 1/10th the staff. If that.
They need to roam the grounds of their own home in NY.
Trump said his kids were taking over his business ... not his administration.
I’d like him to honor that.
Baron will finish school in New York and Melania will live in New York for a while, POETUS was talking about commuting to work a while back on Marine One...not sure that is possible with security concerns etc
Here’s an argument against this
1. We complained like hell when Hellery said 2 for 1 in the 90s
2. If Prez Trump will stick true to his skeptical Global Warming stance ,which I hope, then why setup an office in the West Wing for her?
LOL
I suspect Melania will want the space when she comes to Washington, D.C.
I say that because the First Lady has functions to perform, and she will need the office space.
No, it doesn’t say that. It is reasoned to think that is what will take place.
If you wish to think it won’t, go ahead. I’m not here to give you a hard time over it. I’m just trying to make sense of this, and what I said does make sense.
Jared has also mentioned an interest in brokering peace in the Middle East. I’ll assume he is America first and Israel second until proven otherwise..
Thread Winner!
Yes, the President did not have a wife when his daughter served as office hostess.
In NY school ends in June
“:^)
“She (Melania) also has her own business.”
So does Ivanka.
“Melania will run the entire White house as domestic head of her family, the kitchen, service staff, cleaners, etc.and some of the security people.”
Didn’t see that in the article.
That's one of my questions. But only Donald can answer it ...and he doesn't appear to be interested.
We complained about Hillary during the 90s.
Yeah, he should kick them right the f*** out of the family.
Her kids too, because she’s a lib, and she will obviously raise them lib, and we can’t have that.
She’s obviously a horrid person, and so his her creep husband.

Ivanka Trump To Get Office In White House Space Reserved For First Lady (winning!)
The President can allocate the White House space in any manner he pleases.
Oye ... this will not end well for Trump.
Ivanka is the author of the women issues directions ... from her speech at the convention through her commercials during the general election.
And Jared has been a central adviser to the transition. Unfortunately, there isn’t a shred of evidence either Jared or Ivanka are conservatives. Jared comes from a Democrat big donor family. All kinds of red flags here. We need to push back on this trial balloon or President Trump won’t feel restrained.
Of course he can.
And I can disagree with how he chooses to do it.
Multiple instances
And when the presidents wife can’t carry out ceremonial and practical duties regarding running the WH- somebody has to,do it
Count your blessings that we don’t have hillary as president and the vacuous Chelsea as First Lady
