“Emergency!! Everybody to get off street!”
This is an island with NO BOATS?
First saw it in theater in 1966, I think, what a hoot!
Especially when the sheriff pulls out his summons book to write the Russki sub a ticket...
My favorite scene is when the old guy is having breakfast (with his hearing aid out) oblivious to the fact his wife is tied up, and hung up on the wall, right behind him. When he shouts out her name and can't hear her muffled cries “OK. If that's the way she wants it, then so be it!!”.
For me, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Russians and Dr Strangelove were the last films where all the great character actors and vaudevillians have a last hurrah.
They seldom make movies like that anymore. They were so funny! Today’s “comedy” consists mostly of laughing at people’s flaws, and perverted sex. I love it when they occasionally get one right, like “Raising Arizona, Men In Black, Best of Show, The Producers, Napoleon Dynamite, and anything Mel Brooks ever does, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
