RIP. Condolences to his family and friends - but they should not be sad, his was a life well led, and long.
To those who didn’t see eye-to-eye with his politics (and I am one of them), take a step back and look at the big picture: this man was a genuine hero - a Marine Corps fighter pilot, and an astronaut who went where no American (and only one other human) had the guts to go before. He was a genuine patriot, on top of being a hero. America is a better nation for him having been one of us, and a poorer nation now that he is gone. I hope that his life and his feats of courage can inspire others.

Yes he was. And if he hadn't sold out his integrity (and for a cheap price) he would have died forever remembered as a hero.
