We ain’t lying. We be fibbing. Kind of like the US government. They fib. We learn from their out and out fibbing. Per Mr. Fibber Magee.
Every year.....
My ex was really angry that I refused to ever tell my children there was a santa. It did them no harm.
In fact, I was visiting two of them in prison last week and asked if they felt they had been cheated by never believing in Santa. They both said no.
Damn, now I have to all my grandkids The Wizard of Oz is not real. SPOLIER ALERT.
Sometimes there are reasons why people laugh at Christians.
Yes !
.
Stupid.
If I had kids I would let Santa in the house and the Easter Bunny.
They are part of the lessons of Christ and easy for children to understand.
My Mom always explained them to us in ways that made sense.
When they get to about 6 or 7 I’d crush their little souls with the truth.../S
It’s like the symbol of the Evergreen or analogy of the Egg. Concepts a child can understand.
I still wait for Santa, while sipping Egg Nog laced with Brandy and not that cheap crap either.
And the Easter Bunny is always welcome because I know he brings me those delicious Yellow Marshmallow Chicks every year.
But, my faith and hope are eternal through Christ, Our Lord and Savior.
Man, I wish I had that’s guy’s temperament and could walk on water....
Why would you want to lie about Santa?
He’s a very generous, jolly old man.
He doesn’t deserved to be lied about.
I can remember the massive let down when I found out about 6 years ago.
Isn’t it OK to share in the wonder and fantasy dreams with your children? They’re filled with the wonder and fascination of life. Let them. You don’t have to lie. Just let them enjoy the wonderful fantasies of childhood while grounding them in the even more wondrous love of God the Father through the matchless grace of Jesus Christ.
I don't remember any words like that in the song ...
"You better watch out. You better not cry.
You better not pout, I'm telling you why ..."
Our society is so FULL of PC and data (via computer) that kids are pretty hip by the age of 3 or 4.
Santa is a REAL myth easily dismissed and the kids know about the reality of money and value pretty quickly.
Christmas is (I thiunk .. ) starting to come back around to the birth of Christ, which is what it should be, anyway.
Who cares about the date and time of year ...
Unto us a child is given
And I am SO thankful for Him.
Merry Christmas !
We never did. We taught them what Christmas was about and explained that we give each other gifts just like God gave us His gift.
My best friend grew up believing in Santa and was absolutely devastated when she learned that the people she trusted the most had lied to her. She could not understand how they would do that to her and set up in her mind the question of what else they may have lied to her about.
What,not real?
Really? This is journalism?
I guess most kids do not have parents that have a clue.
Good grief man,let children enjoy their childhood. The weight of adulthood will land on their shoulders soon enough.
Second ...
6. But what about the elf on the shelf, you ask?
You asked for it ...
If this is all this guy has to worry about regarding his kids, then bully for him. Otherwise, he can just keep his opinions to himself.
My stepfather was Serbian Orthodox and Saint Nicholas was the family patron saint. I didn’t grow up with “Santa Claus” but St. Nicholas - we celebrated Dec 6th every year. For gifts, they were from the family and when I got older we would joke that “Santa” brought a gift for the house (something we wanted for the whole family like a game or furniture etc).
Now that I am a parent, MrR and I are a bit conflicted. “Santa” is part of many children’s lives but I don’t want to lie to them and I am not any worse off for not being given the standard “Santa” story. In fact, I believe I am better off for not growing up with it.
