He died on Wednesday after "a long and stubborn battle with cancer", said his manager. The news comes nine months after Lake's band-mate Keith Emerson died.

RIP. He leaves behind an amazing body of work. I saw ELP live at a small venue. Such a gifted musician.

King Crimson was pretty funky and "way out there" years ago. R.I.P.

I’ve had few ELP albums in my time. Some of the music is quite good; much of it is overindulgent and ponderous.

But, no one can deny their talent. The fact that they sounded like no one else is testament to their creativity.

RIP, Mr. Lake.

There’s a TV commercial out there that plays a small piece of “21st Century schizoid Man.” I can remember when “Lucky Man” was all the rage. RIP GL.

“The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams.
Upon the instruments of death
The sunlight brightly gleams.
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
When silence drowns the screams.

Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying.
Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying

Between the iron gates of fate
The seeds of time were sown
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known.
Knowledge is a deadly friend
If no one sets the rules.
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools.

The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams.
Upon the instruments of death
The sunlight brightly gleams.
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
When silence drowns the screams.

Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying.
Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying
Crying..
Crying...
Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying
Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying
Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying
Crying...”

Lucky Man was always one of my favorites. This leaves only Carl Palmer still with us.

It really makes you stop and think when all the musicians you grew up with and about the same age and they start dying off, makes you wonder when is it going to be your turn.

RIP to a great voice.
Even though it’s a protest against the over commercialization of Christmas “I Believe in Father Christmas” is one of the few Christmas songs I can listen to these days.

“Such a gifted musician.”

Absolutely. I didn’t know he was from Bournemouth. So many amazing musicians have come from the UK. King Crimson remains one of my favorites. They were incredibly inventive.
