ONE OF A KIND - FIRST GENERATION AUDIO. This is the concert segment IN TRUE STEREO from the 1978 special "Olivia!" Just prior to shooting this segment with a live orchestra, the audio guy asked if I would like a stereo feed of the sound. Of course I said yes and fed two three-quarter inch VCRs with the special feed. Stereo TV was not available widely until the mid-1980s. After completion of the special, I manually synced the 2" master of the show to my 3/4" master and, viola, a stereo version of the concert with Andy Gibb, ABBA, and Olivia! Shot just days before it aired, the ABC-TV special "Olivia!" was the marathon of all television specials I edited while in Hollywood. For 36 nonstop hours, director Steve Binder (my all time favorite) and the post-production crew dashed toward an unbelievable deadline and beat it. This is the entire concert segment. The air version begins at 3:01 and ends prior to "Thank you for the Music" (which was used for closing credits). Please select 480p and full screen (and don't forget headphones!); the quality is matchless!

Another vid of Olivia.
I LOOOOVE the 10-13 second mark.
Those eyes...that smile.....Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Had a teacher in jr high who had the same hair style.
Wow. Impressive. Sounds great. I need to find someone who can get me a stereo feed of Mel Torme and Buddy Rich on Merv Griffin from 1979.
Oh yeah. I can still remember the first time I saw her on TV - it was one of John Denver's Christmas Specials, 1975 or thereabouts. I'd already heard her voice on the radio, but seeing her made my heart do flips. I can recall my dad chuckling - he could see that I was smitten. :-)
Good golly she can sing.
You are a very generous man. :-)
Her looks were absolutely breathtaking.
But her voice was just as equally breathtaking.
I've heard a number of times, from people outside of pop music, when describing someone with a uncommonly good voice, but very unique, Olivia always seems to be mentioned.
I really can't think of anyone who sounds anything like her.
Because of this thread, I'll be on youtube for the next week, replaying her vids. :)
No offense...but your dad was probably chuckling to cover the fact that he was also smitten.
Man... she is something.
PFL
Yep...I was just crusin’ YouTube myself. That link you posted for “Magic”...I watched twice. Just an incredible voice and stage presence.
No, Dad was more of a Lynda Carter fan. :-)
Terrible time for puberty to kick in.
Mmm. I miss the LP record dust jackets, they gave you more to look at. Now it’s all shrunk down to avatar size and displayed by your iTunes or car audio system. You have to squint to make out what it is.
She knew how to flirt with the camera
This has to set the record for the most Aussie cleavage ever on an Olivia video. Too bad it’s all Andy’s! I’ve seen this several times before, but never noticed that before. Both the audio and video are great quality here. And artists and music selections are iconic.
Bump for later — Thank YOU for the music!!!!
It was nice to hear ABBA sing live.
Here is Frida er ah dancing
