As a former soldier I can tell you I wouldn't; I'd shoot the Officer who gave the order.

When threatened with prison, or even just the loss of their ability to support their family, most will do as ordered. Sad, but we’ve already seen it on multiple occasions
If the great majority of the 3.5 million mentioned above were of like mind, I would rest easy.
