well, he sure went downhill after “The Snake”...even if this did sell more records. I guess you only get one chance to record a song that will be the centerpiece of a Presidential campaign 50 years later.

The follow up was “Touch and Go,” a hit but not nearly as big as “Show and Tell” and not as polished either. I like touch and go better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qj9kasqtsjw

I’ve always had a soft spot for Mary Wells.

She did “My Guy” too. Beautiful voice.
Better music, from a bygone era.

Listening to this song brings back great memories of growing up in Detroit in the 1960’s and ‘70’s; days that will never be repeated.

The Marvelettes had a great Sax in “Don’t Mess With Bill”.
The whole piece was very jazzy, even for the early 60’s.

She was at one time regarded as the Queen Of Motown. Her life story was somewhat tragic, both before and after her Motowb heyday, peaking with “My Guy” in 1964. She brought some of it on herself. But, she had a lovely voice and as I said, I’ve always had a soft spot for her, may she rest in peace.

I remember it well...

My older sister was huge into Motown at the time, so that’s what was on in the house - along with the Big Band era stuff from my parents.

I picked up the bass, and then the guitar at 12, and have been playing ever since. Play keyboards too, but I sold all my keyboard gear years ago.

I still have this idea that I’ll get around to playing sax one day... We’ll see.
