Rosie O'Donnell sparked an uproar on Twitter by sharing a video that speculates about President-elect Donald Trump's 10-year-old son, Barron, possibly being autistic.
"Barron Trump Autistic?" she asked.
"[I]f so, what an amazing opportunity to bring attention to the AUTISM epidemic," the tweet read.
The actress/comedian, who very publicly feuded with Trump starting in 2006, was immediately criticized for bringing up the subject.

So, the excuse for your pomposity, is that someone else said it too! Let a third jump in. Then it Must Be True!
And, let us analyze my "ignorant post." I pointed out where Barron goes to school. I pointed out some facts about what kind of school it is [it is a broad based "liberal arts" college preparatory school]. I then drew the conclusion that it was not the kind of school someone with the triad of characteristics constituting autism would do well at.
Now, to refute that I would suggest you actually go through the logic - start with the accepted clinical definition of autism and tell me how someone who showed those characteristics would still do well at a broad based liberal arts college prep school. We have seen on this forum examples of folks who compensated for autism through pursuing music, or mathematics or computer programming. But all of those are the kind of "single minded" activity or interest that is one of the three required characteristics of autism. A singular genius in math, or music does not get one through a college preparatory course. It simply doesn't. That is why folks who genuinely suffer from autism (and I don't mean they are just a bit odd) have "special needs."
I tried to help you with your ignorance. Unlike you, I am well acquainted with autism spectrum disorder. You however, continue to dig your hole, so I shall step aside.

After a freeper posted a YouTube at post #44 and I hit the abuse button and an all out war ensued between myself and two particular posters who think it’s wonderful to speculate and diagnose other people’s kids and proclaim their findings to the world.

I know people who interact with the Trump family in Palm Beach. For six years, no one has ever mentioned this. And if someone’s child was actually in that spectrum or schizophrenic or with some personality disorder, let’s say it’s Chelsea Clinton’s kid, whom does it benefit to speculate and spread such a rumor. Why label and stigmatize that kid? This is all leftist garbage that’s promoted by those who hawk celebrities to bored morons feeding off their lives.
But, there may be more to this story. With DJT’s statements regarding vaccines & autism, some expect DJT would increase funding for autism issues and they’d be very pleased for his child or a grandchild to be autistic and become their new poster-child. However, the only tie between DJT and autism is a 2010 Trump Foundation donation of 10K to an anti-vaccine charity run by television host Jenny McCarthy. That’s it.
And these freepers need to mind their own business and not speculate on a stranger’s kid at 3AM on stage before thousands. He’s NOT their kid or grandkid. These freepers are NOT professionals and it would be highly unethical and unprofessional of them to comment if they were qualified. These freepers have never met Barron and likely never will meet “their imaginary patient.” Why spread unsubstantiated information that’s none of your business.
Likewise, freepers look really stupid when they kept posting video footage of the Cruz daughter rejecting Ted’s hug when she got off a bus ride as living proof that Caroline hates her Daddy and that makes him a horrible guy. It’s nonsense.
Attacking Ted on a myriad of real issues is fair play, but this kind of stuff is pure BS. Those little girls were on the campaign trail moving through time zones and propped on stage before thousands. And unless you’re born as a Kardasian child, it really ain’t much fun. Give them a break, and those ‘concerned freepers’ need to MYOB.
This kid made a total of 3 appearances for short periods of time before mobs of people.
What is going on here? Like I said, most people who are really good (I mean PhD mathematics material) or similar in the physical sciences display some form of social "inadquacy." Scientists even joke about it, and the more people try to put them on the autism spectrum the harder they laugh about it - the really good one's anyway. Math, Physics, hard chemistry, computer science require the ability to obsess about a problem single-mindedly for weeks or months or years at a time. Noble Prize winners obsess about their problem for a decade or so. Society can try to teach them to bathe and wash their clothes, but obsession is what makes them good at what they do.
The U.S. used to welcome these folks. They built the atomic bomb and created world-leading and world-changing technical advances. You think Robert Oppenheimer or Shockley or that ilk did not have socialization problems?
But now we have to put such people on a disorder scale and get them treatment.
And none of this is intended to disparage parents who have children with real development issues or the kids themselves. We should help them.
I am wondering if this isn't all part of this "Diversity" thing we have all been sold on, which seems to degenerate into a nihilistic mantra that we are all the same and are all interchangeable. Well we aren't. We have unique skills, capabilities and temperaments and thus are each more suited for one specialization or another. That is a good thing, the economists tell us, because economic prosperity multiples enormously with specialization.

Fair enough, great feedback, yes I left out MYOB might be a great idea. Pre-Teen kids sleep deprived off their schedules and possibly Hangry ( so hungry their angry ) oh ya, it is not fun. In the grand scheme of things in regards to all the kids you mentioned it is a miracle they didn’t have a meltdown, with the travel, hotel living, time changes, new and different food and water, and sleep patterns off, not to mention missing their social networks of like aged peers.
Yes Andy. We are on the same page. It can be a huge compliment when a genius is placed in this spectrum, and lots of them are. Look at the parents, Trump is a genius and Melania is very introspective and atypical in addition to her great beauty. But just because DJT basks in the limelight, it does not mean his wife and kid feel the same and want to smile for snapping cameras.
In fact, Melania has been elusive from both the NYC & Palm Beach social scene and has rarely been interviewed. Barron has never been paraded, they don’t need the money! Melania’s the polar opposite of Ivana, who kept herself constantly in the news. Except for a few birthday parties and introducing her private line, Melania has shielded herself & Barron for ten years from paparazzi. The boy is camera shy and has not been on the campaign show-parade. Likewise, Trump has always controlled camera access to their private family vacations which is simple for him since he owns all the resorts that they frequent.
I’ve known a few children who have been at different levels within the A- spectrum. Many are high level physician’s or engineer’s sons. Their stories are all so very different. But it sure helps if they have a lot of love, faith, and -lots of money to improve their lives.
Mikey- an autism story which turned out well because the parents have a strong faith and luckily are very wealthy.
I’ve know Mikey since birth, he was a very cute and handsome kid. But he was always hypersensitive and very difficult. This child was antisocial with nearly complete eye contact avoidance. Any physical contact outside his immediate family was impossible. He was scared or phobic of nearly everything. He sat and rocked and screamed if you entered his space, grossly over-reacted to any little thing.
We weren’t sure how much of this was spoiling to the disorder- or for real. However, their other younger child was 100% normal, happy and well adjusted. Mikey had to be physically restrained and isolated frequently. Although he was really cute, he was a pathetic little creature behaving liking a 4 year old infant. He began a very nice Christian preschool at age 4, and was kicked out the same day. The public school system labelled Mikey with autism. The parents rejected the label and took matters in their own (wealthy) hands.
They built a private school on their property and invited homeschool kids to join. The mom carefully selected which kids got along and were tolerant of Mikey. Those who were critical or unkind, were not invited back. She was the chief anti-bully patrol of her own school. I recommended they literally force him to participate in activities and they did.
The dad forced Mikey to swim competitively and they built a mini sports complex on the property where ‘select’ kids were invited. The dad forced Mike to join boy scouts (my idea) where he learned to be with outdoorsy-exploring boys and men. They forced him to join Bible youth group and they hosted the parties- incurring all the costs and monitoring for bully behavior or misbehavior.
Although Mike had been very antisocial, the parents were able to socialize him selectively through groups of well-behaved primarily Christian kids. His mom ran interference 24-7 for Mikey and so he was unable to stand for himself. Mikey became a persistent annoying little tattler. Everyone knew the deal, tolerate Mikey and the opulent opportunities on their campus will continue. While Mikey had been a struggling basket-case in the earlier years, he had progressed and needed to experience some reality.
The dad finally said enough of homeschool and Mikey’s sheltered environment. He insisted Mike find a high school where he could function. They rejected the boarding school idea. They bussed Mike to a small Christian school. Mike hated the school, the new kids, and was struggling-nearly flunking out in every subject. The dad persisted, wanted both their kids in the Christian school. Mike was referred to a specialist and his life took a 100 degree turn.
Mike began some behavioral therapy, tutoring, and a new diet and supplements with lots of Omega Fats, whale krill or something along those lines. Possibly some prescription meds as well, not sure. The failing grades became straight A’s within six months. Socially, he improved - somewhat. Mike graduated high school at 19 with honors. Mike earned his Eagle Scout honor award and he plays in a Christian rock band. Mike is at a Christian College living in a dormitory and will earn a Music degree. He functions without his parents in the room! His independence is just on a much slower track than some. They had shielded him from a lot of negatives for nearly 20 years, and it paid off.
Looking back, I can’t imagine how Mikey’s life would have developed without his parents interest, because I’ve also witnessed less severe kids who have had a miserable time. I have friends whose kids had legit diagnosis of aspergers. Boarding schools for special needs are $40,000-60,000 per year. Most of these schools are in the NY-NJ area or New England. The parents sacrifice to get their kids help and ship them off out of the area. Some of the kids never make it to college and some of these schools are a huge waste or even harmful. Parents are often disappointed and withdraw or rotate between schools. Sometimes the school fits the kid.
Without very concerned and involved parents fighting for these children, the choices can be grim: heavy-medications (age 4+), institutionalization, middle-school drop-outs, alcoholism, lots of drugs, repeatedly assaulted, suicide, and the boys are often preyed upon by gay men.
To suggest someone else’s kid has aspergers, autism, or any emotional, attentional, or personality disorder is no laughing or causal matter. Not to those who follow them to adulthood. I’ve seen too many unfortunate cases; sorrow and empathy are the words that come to mind. It’s an added struggle. Most families do not have the financial means or availability of quality assistance in their area.
And in case anyone bothered to read this far, one of the premier schools for special needs is in Connecticut, and another in NJ. I would bet that if Barron needed specialized assistance that his brilliant parents or genius siblings would have figured that out by now. Rest assured, Trump will make sure that his son has the best education that suits his individual needs. We have no need to worry or second guess him. No need to pry into his life about things that have zero impact on the state of American affairs.
A blessing that will dry up your bank accounts and drain you of all energy and freedom on life.

And as you lay dying in the hospice, you can say to yourself "Thank God I saved all that money and energy by squirreling that kid away in a home like "Rain Man"! Look at all I have in my bank accounts!
It’s an obligation and will leave a family broke with no life. Often times it causes divorce as the man usually bails. The healthy children in that family also suffer the lack of financial resources.
Please don’t suggest a major handicap is a blessing and I hope you don’t wish that form of “blessing” on anyone.
