E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt called upon Lin-Manuel Miranda to apologize to Mike Pence for the Hamilton cast's speech to the Vice President-elect following Friday's performance.
Although Van Zandt tweeted that "everyone who is sane disagrees with [Pence's] policies," he argued that a Broadway show or anywhere where art is performed is not the proper venue to "bully" an audience member.
"Hamilton made a mistake. Audiences shouldn't have to worry about being blindsided like that. Theater should be sanctuary for Art to speak," Van Zandt wrote.
"Lin-Manuel is a genius. He has created the greatest play since West Side Story. He is also a role model. This sets a terrible precedent. Completely inappropriate. Theater should be a safe haven for Art to speak. Not the actors. He needs to apologize to Mike Pence."

Drop dead, Steve.
Stevie van zandt? What? When did he convert from being a rabid lib/commie? What’s next? Mr Estreet band, the un talented brucee springcrap denouncing the cast? Stranger than fiction.
Actually, I thought he already had but I guess that was Clarence, instead.
If the pigment colors were reversed, the MSM would be screaming RACITS..THIS IS RACIST.
Was the actor who had the gall to lecture the VP elect so insecure about their ability to convey their message that he had to compensate? As an ordinary person attending a play, I'd be insulted if the actors decided they had to explain the message of what I just experienced.,
What would have been appropriate would be for the cast to come out afterwards and apologize for members of the audience who booed the VP. Make it clear that's not what they're about. Instead, what that jerk did was reinforce their classless behavior.
Haven’t liked Little Stevie since he clipped Adriana.
So, is “Stevee” a silent investor in Hamilton? That is what I want to know....
In my day, as a New Yorker, my wife and I have gone to many a “Broadway” play. I paid good money to get preferred seating, and I expected to be both entertained and informed by the viewing and listening process!!! I did not pay to hear the verbal political views of the cast. Let the play send out its message, but not actors, producers or the cast!!!
IMHO...the entire cast of “Hamilton” should be fired or, if i was an attendee at that “Hamilton” performance, I would demand that the producers refund my ticket cost, as a result of an unwanted sideshow, uttered by morons!!! I could less what the low life specimen of humanity has to say, one way or the other. Go Donald J. Trump & Mike Pence!!!
The booing was started by one patron. Had some one cheered, that would have dominated. The lesson is that when ever Trump or Pence appear, start a round of cheers and applause first.
The insane think normal people are crazy.
I like the idea of interrupting every performance of Hamilton with pro Trump, pro America cheers. Keep at them till they can’t perform the show without hearing from their audience nightly.
I really liked that show.
Why do I get the idea that Van Zandt thinks he has to say this to keep working?
I stopped listening to normal people by the time I was 10. But I still listen to the "voices" while I sharpen my knives and such. :)
So did I. Except for the very excessive swearing. That was quite over the top. Other than that, pretty good show.
That was one strange but funny show.
Yeah, I was sad to see it discontinued.
