I’ve never been to Yellowstone, but I’m going to go out on a limb and guess there were prominent signs warning people to not get close to the steaming hot springs.

There are undoubtedly MANY signs in the area warning of potential danger.

Horrible. I think of the sister in particular to watch him die right in front of her in that way, then to know that his body disintegrated and there could be no true funeral must be traumatizing.

Wow...all the warnings everywhere to stay on the boardwalks and he still goes off the trail. There are stories everywhere of legs punching through the crust and getting parboiled in nothing flat.

Hate to say it, but “Darwin Award Winner.”

I can’t imagine the anguish in his younger sister who had to watch that (and was apparently filming it).

Scott was planning to “hot-spot,” or soak in the water but slipped and fell in when he reached down to check the temperature...

Mission accomplished.

I won’t believe this unless I see it repeated and proved on Myth busters.

Colin Nathaniel Scott, 23, was with his younger sister

I bet he had the car keys in his pocket, too.

Falling into hot springs in Yellowstone has happened quite often, read Death in Yellowstone-Accidents and Foolhardiness in the First National Park by Lee H. Whittlesey. Good read!

We have a hot spring on the property (we live not too far from Yellowstone) and it heats our house, driveway, garage, hot tub, and pool.

Our water is usually around 150F-165F and you would not want to be in contact with it for a long time.

The way our house was built the water can be routed into the slab foundation of the house during the winter to keep it warm and then it goes out to the garage, then the driveway, and then into the hot tub, pool, and then it flows to the creek.

It’s around 100 in the hot tub and the pool is about 80 all the time.

It’s really nice EXCEPT for the smell but you do get used to it over time and anymore I kind of like it!

A friend of mine told me of her first trip as a child to Yellowstone. It will always be remembered as another kid ran up and jumped into the pool.
The rangers had to fish him out in pieces.

His soul is 100% intact. We should be sober in our own paths and what is offered by Christ.

May he RIP.

The point about risk-taking is that bad things can actually happen. Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t fully grasp that part, think it’s all about mastering fear, and nothing more.

There’s hot springs in my area and some of them are plenty hot to cook a meal in. I kinda doubt the young guy’s body “dissolved”,but more like kinda fell apart like a chicken left in a crockpot for too long does. Rescuers would reach for his arm, only to have it instantly de-boned.
