An Alabama father who shot and killed his daughters sexual abuser pleaded guilty Monday and accepted a 40-year prison sentence in the hopes of sparing his daughter from having to relive the experience through a lengthy trial.
Jay Maynor, 43, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in the June 2014 killing of 59-year-old Raymond Earl Brooks. Brooks was a registered sex offender who was shot to death at his home in rural Cullman County, north of Birmingham.
BREAK IN CASE? POLICE SEARCH FOR SUV IN RELATION TO JOGGER'S DEATH
Brooks pleaded guilty in 2002 to sexually abusing Maynor's young daughter. He served 27 months of a five-year sentence and paid restitution.
Basically he took it so that I didnt have to relive the molestation and also be on the stand in front of a bunch of people talking about and bringing back memories of the molestation, the woman told AL.com. My father was protecting me, like a father should do. He is an amazing fatheractually the best. He loves us so much.

The guy was guilty and the “justice” system failed. No one went and randomly killed someone.
I understand the guy has to be convicted, but this is just a tiny degree removed from self-defense.
I would have gladly engaged in nullification if I was on the Jury for this guys trial! Which is what needs to happen in these cases.. .he’s no threat to anyone else, his reaction was not beyond the expectation of any rational father.
No way I’d put him away for doing what a father should do.
Then why was he released? This is where you fail to understand me. If he has not paid his debt / still poses a threat, he does not belong among us.
Just reduce it to time served, with a stern warning to not do it again! :-)
“Brooks pleaded guilty in 2002 to sexually abusing Maynor’s young daughter. He served 27 months of a five-year sentence and paid restitution.”
The judge who sentenced him is the real cause of this situation. Setting perverts like that free leaves citizens with little option but to take it upon themselves to defend their children.

“And every killer needs to go to prison.”
Those who kill in self defense? Or during a war? Or by accident? Or as a peace officer in the line of duty?
“If he has not paid his debt / still poses a threat, he does not belong among us.”
Well, he’s no longer among us, thanks to the dad, and no thanks to our failure of a justice system.
” Its the judge who passed the sentence on the dad who should be in jail.”
No, he should be swinging from a tree.
Yup. Should have been more careful about how he executed his vengeance. If he'd planned better, it wouldn't be an issue.
The triple S solution.
The President of the United States has ultimate pardon powers. . . he can pardon anyone.
A president can only pardon for federal crimes. Where would anyone get the idea that it was otherwise?
This is what is called iniquity.
God judges nations that are full of this.
I’m channeling Obama. . . He’s got a phone and a pen and he doesn’t need the Constitution and States’ Rights are meaningless, right? The President as dictator can do what he wants, remember. Obama has set the precedent. It’s la logical extension of the last eight years.
He did what the courts failed to do, sadly.
I remember this video.
Doh!
I shoulda known...
