Perhaps one of you can think of another Republican candidate who would have won but I can't think of any.

I have been considering this same question for months. I can’t think of even one other Republican who would have gotten close. God bless Donald Trump and God bless and save America!

There’s people who could have beaten Hillary...but no one else could have beaten the media.

Bridgegate was a trivial event which the media turned into a major scandal (like the Valerie Plame matter)--much more attention to a brief closing of a couple of lanes on a freeway than to the Benghazi debacle and why neither Obama or Hillary made any effort to send help during the attack (or why Chris Stevens was there to begin with). But it had the desired effect of destroying Christie's chances.

That is not to say Christie would have beaten Hillary--she might have found other weak spots to exploit and he would have faced the same problem Romney had, unwillingness of some segments of the Republican Party to support him.

Maybe Rick Perry if he had not run in 2012...but again, the Clintons with their politics of personal destruction might have made mincemeat of him.

What’s funny is listening to prominent Republicans talk as though any Republican on the final ballot would have been treated any better than Trump in the MSM.

I was never a fan of Donald Trump.

Never watched one episode of his show, The Apprentice.

When he rode down that escalator in Trump tower to give his memorable speech, I knew in one instant that he was my candidate and that he would be POTUS #45.

Unmatched bravado, unmatched energy, unmatched perseverance, unmatched importance placed on winning and lastly, unmatched love for our country and our ideals.

The better question to ask is:

Could God have raised up another republican to be president?

yes... he could have.

He could have made Pee-Wee Herman president if He wanted to...
but He didn’t.

He Chose Trump... Just like He chose Obama.

That is good news for us, because it means He has set us on a better path than the one we were on.

The Republican establishment hammered Cruz worse than Trump, who was also a change candidate, but he didn’t have the personality to pull it off. Cruz would have gotten the conservative base after they reconciled, but never would have gotten crossovers like Trump did. None of the others were change candidates except for Ben Carson and a little less Rubio. He kind of finally blew it when he let Trump get under his skin, especially when Trump accused his father of killing Kennedy. He should have just laughed it off. I do hope that Trump considers him for SCOTUS, for which he is well qualified. He was always better suited for that anyway.

No sir. I think had Rubio not messed up on immigration, he’d have had a chance, but he’s still basically a lightweight. Let him seasin in the Senate for a while and get some battle scars fighting for Trump and we can talk in 2024.

Nope.

They’d have done what they always do and pandered to groups, gone to the middle watering down prior promises, and pissed us off.

Nope. Right man; right place; right time. The power and unscrupulous state of the Clinton Crime Family and all their minions had to be taken on by a real fighter. The namby-pamby Republicans meandering around in Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood were destined to be crushed. To take it further, I believeTrump was God’s gift to give us a chance. No doubt he is a flawed man as are we all. But since when has God not put greatly flawed men to work in crises. I have been thanking God every day since Tuesday night.

I would have wanted Ben Carson to win because I read his book on the Constitution. However, I understand that Dr. Carson would not have been ready for the liberal news media hatestorm and DNC fraud that slams into opponents of tyranny like a freight train. Also, I don't think he would be as aggressive and a go-getter as President Elect Trump.

So yes, I agree, Donald Trump was actually the only good guy who could also win the race.

Of the 17 contesting for the nomination? No.

I can tell you who would have eviscerated Hillary Clinton in the debates, though: Newt Gingrich. He probably would not have won the general election, but what he would have done to Clinton in front of live audiences in the debates would have been entertainment for the ages.

Trump was the only canidate to have the vision and courage to redefine the electoral map by focusing on immigration and bad trade deals.

I still like Ted, in 2024 when he gets more experience and gets rid of Beck. Hillary would have crushed him.

There are no perfect candidates. We have to grind it out with the hand we ar dealt.

No. Not from the get-go. He was always the only one who could do it because he was the only one not beholden to donors and able to run a truly original campaign responsive to unfolding conditions.
