Hope you enjoy. Gentle On My Mind
music *ping*
Beautiful! Thanks for posting...
Bleagh.
Beautiful voice, slimy song about a cad flitting about from one sexual dalliance to the next.
Thanks, my favorite version of Glen singing it. And with the likes of Chet Atkins, Ray Stevens, Roy Clark, and a host of country artists looking on approvingly.
I remember hearing at the time that this was one of the few songs ever recorded that did not have rhyming verses ... and NO ONE NOTICED. And dang if that wasn’t true.
Beautiful song. The lyrics lull you into the imagery of a man longing for his lost love.
The Mavericks do a comparable rendition of this song. Raul Malo has one of the best voices since Dean Martin...lovely.

That wonderful song was written by the late John Hartford, one of the innovators of modern bluegrass, aka “newgrass.”
Here’s another of his songs, “ Lorena.”

“...slimy song about a cad flitting about from one sexual dalliance to the next.”
Wow, I don’t read the lyrics like that. To me, it’s a guy whose love he remembers as he strikes out to...???? Find work? Find his fortune? His destiny? And he’s having a hard time doing so, but his remembrance of her keeps him going.
Maybe?
And some other woman's cryin' to her mother 'Cause she turned and I was gone
Read all of the lyrics.
I *have* read and know all the lyrics. Still don’t read the same into it that do you. And to be fair, Glen rarely performed the verse with “...some other woman’s cryin’ to her mother” and the verse following.
Still a great song, lyrics included.
