Is this when it ends for that ancient ideal, the truth? Is this where it has come to die, victim of campaigns and conspiracies, politicians and internet trolls and the masses who swallow their rhetoric?
Rest in peace, honesty?
The value of facts in a democracy has taken a beating, said David Barrett, a political science professor at Villanova University. [ ]
[Ohio University professor Kevin] Mattson said theories originating with left-leaning academics in France and elsewhere questioning whether anything can truly be known as fact began taking hold among American thinkers in the 1970s and 1980s. There is a connection between that, he said, and the rhetoric that has been spread by some in politics.
The belief is that there is no objective truth if we want something to be real, then it is real, he said.
Through that lens, its easier to understand vehement insistence that climate change is not real (it is, according to scientific consensus) or that election fraud is rampant (it isnt, repeated studies have found).

Funny stuff, considering how dishonest and RAT-biased AP is.

He/she/it wouldn't recognize truth if it slapped him/her/it in the faces.
Well, if you want your brand to get uglier, hire Salon writers.
The MSM is at the forefront of destroying honesty in this country.
We need less journalists, and more news reporters.
I wonder how the author would apply this to the relationship between the science of biology and the issue of so-called “transgender” people...
In her book, Hard Choices, Hillary made it clear that she was quite familiar with the need for security precautions. But, long story short, Hillary intentionally evaded the FOIA law - and in so doing also evaded the laws governing the handling of legally established government secrets. The upshot is that the time, effort, and money spent on keeping government secrets secret is all in vain. And for what? So that Hillary could (or so she hoped) keep the public in the dark about her dealings which were in her self interest - and at odds with that of the American public.
Just as the public learned a lot about her self dealing, we have to assume that foreign intelligence services have learned a tremendous amount that we-the-people wanted to keep secret from them.
Hillarys campaign - every ad she puts on, the whole campaign is a giant half truth - and a giant lie.
