It took Elvis’ bass player to figure out and play it on the bass guitar.

Thanks. Excellent and a wonderful time-out from this hellish election that was almost driving me - and everyone else I know - suicidal.

I love playing the bass on this. It would be easy, but I sing too, and the lines cross each other.
Cool Counterpoint!

Yeah, that’s tough. I can play guitar and sing (sort of). Playing bass and singing’s a lot harder, for me anyway.

No one could ever match how he played Light My Fire on the Farfisia and Fender Rhodes piano bass. Genius.

Most bass players don’t like to sing. They would rather just hang back and lay down the groove. A few back-up vocals perhaps, but only a few actually sing lead over bass. I started out as a vocalist accompanying myself on guitar, and only started playing bass late in life. I started at 55, and it has become my favorite instrument. (((Cross-thread reference))) Playing BASS is probably ANOTHER reason I was denied senior housing! hahahahahahaha
Yep, that’s me. A Harley Riding, Bass-Playing, Dog-Loving, Straight Shootin’, FReeping Ol’ Lady!

The Doors have / had a sound that has never been reproduced. A band way ahead of their time. Several choice cuts on my overnight playlist.

I found a vintage film documentary on The Doors.
Not only was Manzarek a genius on the keys, he often took over the lead vocals at times when Jim Morrison was too drunk to perform. (while continuing to play keys and key-bass.)

I have CDRs burned direct from the studio master tapes of their first album and LA Woman - great sound quality. A friend is a mastering engineer who remastered those albums.

I was a big Doors fan when I was in my 20s but today I find their stuff very dark and unsettling.Today, none of the several thousand songs I have loaded onto my car's audio system are Doors songs.
