Same here. I have various comics like Nick Fury, Doctor Strange etc. They had him in Strange Tales. Also have early ones from #1 like Spiderman, X-Men, Fantastic Four etc. Unfortunately I marked them with my initials. Never figured on them becoming valuable (or to be made into movies). They're valuable to me as remembrances of childhood, not as money.
Who cares? It’s a comic book. And James Bond may as well have been a comic book. If people don’t think the actors should play these characters, they don’t need to go see the movie.

Maybe someone is claiming some of the “tryout” characters in one-off stories from the “suspense”/”horror”/”scifi” comics that Marvel was publishing before they went with the superheroes.

I’ve got about 35k comics in my library. Can’t remember if I have Fury #1 I’ll have to check, but I know I don’t have an FF#1.
FF#1 will start from $800 in crap condition and ranges up to $400k in a pure mint ungraded and up to $800k with a certified mint grade.
Nick Fury (’68) ranges from $1 to $6 depending on condition.
Sgt Fury (’63) ranges from $250 to $5k depending on condition.

Even with the initials you may have retirement money there if you need it. That’s a load of value in the market.
They already did a pretty blatant ripoff of The Ancient One in the movie Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (1985), with the old Chinese master played by Joel Grey, son of bandleader Mickey Katz, and father of actress Jennifer Grey, whose career was torpedoed when some idiot convinced her to get a nose job.
I think a bigger objection is that while Tilda Swinton is a fine actress specializing in androgynous roles, such as Orlando, and the angel Gabriel in Constantine; the character she is portraying is always depicted as extremely elderly, weak and near death.
The Ancient One is decrepit, physically exhausted, his needs attended to his servant Hamir, who has a subtle yet important role in the story, also fathering Doctor Strange’s servant Wong.
The idea of her being a stronger person might contribute to the plot in some way, but takes away from it in other ways.
I don't need it. I'll let them pass to my grandchildren. As a kid, my dad frequented a cigar store and gamble on pinball machines, while I read comics on the stands (the owner allowed me as long as I was careful with them). I'd pick my favorites and take them home. Back then, they were 10 to 12 cents each. My dad griped about it, saying they were a waste of money (but not his gambling, cigars or cigarettes). A brother-in-law is a big-time collector, and I've gone to comic conventions with him and got autographed copies of newer comics. It is big business today, but I'm not interested, choosing stocks instead. Brother-in-law arranges with stores to get ten copies of each new comic, then later sells off some at a profit. Crazy! I listened to him back in the 1970s and bought multiple copies of each Star Wars comics from #1 into the 1980s, and they greatly increased in value. I just don't understand people who pay big bucks for them.
I can understand that. For me a lot of them are from before my time on this earth and I love to delve into the ads and history from the letter columns. Have a number following the JFK assassination, etc. My oldest is actually a pulp magazine from the 1920s called The Secret Service. I picked it up for just a few dollars. Has a lot better writing than most novels today.
Quite interesting! When I was younger, I collected some used books from the turn of the century. 1900 era, that is. A bunch of them were science fiction. You wouldn't think that they were writing science fiction in 1910 etc., but it was out there and still good reading. Also collected newspaper whole pages on historic events. I had a stack, Kennedy getting elected, earliest interventions in Vietnam including assassinations there, and of both Kennedys getting assassinated, and most stuff on NASA flights etc. Unfortunately, I moved out as a late teen only taking a few items, and my mom was pissed at me and threw out all my stuff. All the newspapers, early books, baseball cards, even some Edison light bulbs from turn of the century. Thankfully, I took my comic books with me. After my dad passed when I was 19, I got his collection of early magazines from 1940s/1950s and you're right, ads and history are interesting. My wife thinks I'm nuts to hang onto old stuff including my computing magazines from the early 1970s. When I pass, it'll all probably be tossed out. But at least I have it to peruse once in a while before I'm gone.
Doctor Strange content: maybe I'll be able to continue to enjoy stuff in the astral plane, if it exists.

The script called for a cgi giant albino preying mantis to play the Ancient One. The producers said ‘We’ll save money—get us Swinton.’
She really isn’t a bad actress, and I think it’s kind of neat she isn’t what you would expect nowadays from an actress. The wife in ‘the VVitch’ has sort of the same thing going on. Replacing an elderly Asian dude with her is kind of weird.
