Does anyone remember some talking head on TV commenting about the likelihood of Trump winning either the nomination or the election being as likely as the Cubs winning the World Series? It was earlier in the summer.
Well well well...
I would love the send a Tweet to them...but I cannot recall who it was.

Tonight, Chicago Cubs and their fans are the best symbol of their city. Forget about the mayor and the crime for just one night and celebrate the persistence and heart of a team and their fans.
Congratulations Chicago.

What a game. Normally I hope the Cubs lose, but glad to see the curse of the goat has been broken. Well done, Chicago. Your time will come, Cleveland, well played.

I am someone who grew up a Montreal Expo fan but switched to the Cubs after the Expos moved to DC. Very happy to wake up to this news.

The last ball of the game went into the first basemans pocket pretty damn quick. Wonder what that will be worth someday?

It's really amazing to see that the guys who wrote the screenplay for Back To The Future 2 were only a year off their prediction.

Of course, Ronald Reagan announced Cubs games back in his WHO days in Iowa. I hope he is appreciating the outcome.

Events from 1908:
“October 14 The Chicago Cubs win the 1908 World Series defeating the Detroit Tigers in Game 5. “
and:
“November 3 1908 Presidential election: Republican William Howard Taft defeats Democrat William Jennings Bryan.”
Looks like the precedent has been set. Cubs win, Republican wins WH!

What really helped the Cubs last night was the rain delay. If it had not happened, the Indians would have won.
But really, it was in 2014 that Curt Schilling--appearing on The Herd with Colin Cowherd (then on ESPN Radio) in spring 2014--specifically nailed the reason why the Cubs played below their potential: they played too many day games at Wrigley Field, mostly because the Chicago City Council member who represented the area didn't want that many night games at the ballpark. As such, Cubs players had biological clocks "out of sync" with most other MLB players, and played poorly outside of Wrigley Field and during the playoffs, when it was mostly night games.
To alleviate that situation, the Cubs installed "mood lighting" throughout their new clubhouse (which opened this past season) so players could adjust their biological clocks to play well regardless of start time. That's why the Cubs won 103 regular season games and now the World Series.
