Kind of hard to remember; I actually didn't pay full attention back in those days. But she was from the Cantonese area of China. Spoke it fluently. From what I remember, her parents actually came here by boat and she was born on it. She said she didn't speak a word of English until she started elementary school; they spoke the mother tongue exclusively at home. And she had an accent. She took delight in calling me 'round eyes' and 'white boy'. LOL I was 26 and she was 19 when we met. Things went swimmingly for about a year and we were talking marriage until Daddy found out she was living with Uber-Honkey. They were estranged and she was trying to patch things up, so guess who was left standing then the music stopped. I did get an education and a lot of good memories out of it, the denouement not withstanding.
