Thanks for posting that. I grew up in New York city and my dad was a NYPD cop during that time, George Trapp is his name - He's still alive at 77 years old, and he was outside when that bomb went off killing Frank. He also was there when the Weathermen blew themselves up next to Dustin Hoffmans building. He said Hoffman showed up and played piano for them. I actually met Dustin years later when I drove a taxi and he said he remembered it and said my dads name "George" when he heard my last name was Trapp. Talk about mind blown. It's not a hard name to forget though. My dad was across the street when this picture was taken.

He went on to form the "Pimp Squad" in the 1970s to combat prostitution and retired in 1980.

Wow! Very interesting. However, Dustin Hoffman was an idiot at the time saying something like "Here I am on the right side of things, and MY place gets bombed". See the very last sentence in the following compilation...

BTW, I was born and raised about a mile from that townhouse, on the Lower East Side. We moved from there when I was 13 back in 1970.

From David Horowitz's FrontPageMag.com/DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
March 6, 1970: "three members of the Weather Underground accidentally killed themselves in a Manhattan townhouse while attempting to build a powerful bomb they had intended to plant at a social dance in Fort Dix, New Jersey -- an event that was to be attended by U.S. Army soldiers. Hundreds of lives could have been lost had the plot been successfully executed."

"The bomb was intended to be planted at a non-commissioned officer's dance at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
The bomb was packed with nails to inflict maximum casualties upon detonation."

"Killed by the blast were Theodore Gold, Diana Oughton, and Terry Robbins. Surviving in a stunned and bleeding state were Weatherman members Kathy Boudin and Cathlyn Wilkerson, who were upstairs at the moment of the blast. The two survivors were led out from the burning structure by a police officer and the off-duty New York City Housing Authority patrolman who had entered in search of survivors.[4]"

From the New York Times, March 5, 2000:
The House On West 11th Street

excerpts from various pages of the 5-page article...

"Mr. Hoffman had become a movie star but partly because this was West 11th Street had continued to live a relatively secluded life. The street seemed destined to remain a kind of sanctuary, until just before noon on March 6, 1970, when the house next door, at 18 West 11th Street, exploded."

"Devastated by the explosion, the splendid house at No. 18 had been reduced to shattered walls and windows. Mr. Hoffman's living room wall had a huge hole torn in it. His desk had fallen into the rubble next door."

"He added: 'It was an interesting kind of victimization. Here I have good politics and I'm still getting blown out of my house.'..."
