“Meat grilling is a significant source of air pollution in the city,” Schiff said. “One additional vendor grilling meat emits an amount of particle pollution in one day equivalent to what a diesel truck emits driving 3,500 miles.”

Dear Leftist/Fascist Deputy Health Commissioner Schiff,

PROVE IT !!!

If you can't prove it, (and you can't), then please enlighten us all as to who is paying your sleazy graft for you to say such an incredibly stupid thing.

If true, this says much more about how incredibly non-polluting modern diesel engines are than it does about meat grilling.

They want to take away convenient eats for people on the go.

Liberal fascism knows no bounds.

Right after banning super-sized soda.

Latest excuse for fighting non-existent climate change is to limit people’s lifestyle choices.

Which is just cover for more government control over our personal lives.

When they outlaw food trucks, only outlaws will have food trucks.

This sounds incredible. If the vendor managed to make a total burnt offering of a typical day’s worth of meat (which he will not even come remotely close to), it still would sound incredible.

They are all halal now, except for a very few. Even the Sabrett’s carts. I won’t buy anything at any of them anymore. Nor will I ever go to Subway again. Glad to see them go, if they have to close up shop.

Businesses can’t compete. Tax revenues drop. Always about money.

...And what about all those restaurants that are always cooking. These folks think that pollution indoors is just fine and don’t care about those dining out at restaurants, but sure as hell, if you actually see smoke around food, it must be more dangerous than food that can’t be seen while it is being cooked.

It probably has less to do with phony concerns over “climate change” than it does with restaurant owners not wanting the competition from the food trucks. The restaurant owners lobby hard to keep the food trucks out.

Maybe he can get Chef Ramsey to do a show called “Food Truck Nightmares”.

Two things:

A modern deisel truck emits almost no particulate.

Note that there “Unit of Evil” is the transportation of goods by a truck. To most rational people, the transport of goods by a truck is a good thing, signifying commerce, profit, and the provision of things people might want to buy.

But street vendors argued they’ve waited too long for reforms that would allow them to transition from operating illegally to legally..

(snip)

Before the hearing, some vendors rallied outside, demanding that city officials and police stop harassing them and treating them like criminals.

Excuse me... But if they are operating illegally, shouldn't the police harass them and treat them like the criminals they are?

It's all about the money. It's all about limiting competition. Who has the most to gain from limiting them?

The ones that are already in place. The NEW YORK AG should be tracking their finances to see where their money went. My guess is to some nebulous something eventually connected to De Blatherio. Same among them all.

It's like Taxis, they'll dole out food truck medallions and that’ll be it. A few very rich food truck owners with cash to bribe.
