My son recently finished boot camp and combat training in the Marines, and he said along with others I spoke to the women are treated very differently and the women do not get the exact same workouts as the men do.

If nothing else, biology, physiology, and psychology of our species override indifference to women. Try as they might, all of these gender integration/engineering efforts go against human nature; and in the basest situations, of which combat is one, human nature always surfaces.
Black Hats (instructors) rarely dropped her for pushups, while the male officers routinely did upwards of 300 pushups a day during the first two weeks (Ground & Tower weeks). I didn't mind it, it was part of the game. At graduation, I was in the best shape of my life.
Physical Fitness Exam for women was a joke.
