The global gap in earnings between men and women will not be closed for another 170 years if current trends continue, according to a new report from the World Economic Forum.
The Switzerland-based forums annual Global Gender Gap Report, released Tuesday, lists economics and health as the most challenging disparities between men and women worldwide. [ ]
The U.S. placed 45th in the index, down from 28th in 2015. The report cites a decline in the number of women participating in the labor force over the past year as a partial reason for the drop. However, it also notes that the U.S. has attained parity among genders in education.

Those jobs don't pay that well from the viewpoint of a middle class professional, but I'm guessing they pay a lot better than anything the guys would otherwise do.

It’s certainly true that for the most part, if those guys could get easier, better-paying jobs, they would.
People read the headlines and don’t read all or any of the article.
Desperation, going to the kitchen sink, throw it all out there, see if it sticks.
Sometimes they do. Probably because if they read every news article completely through they wouldn’t have time left to work or enjoy life.
