The NYTs is feeling exposed on this issue, so the WSJ and then CNBC chime in.
Of course the NYTs would have no credibility on the issue, since it would be the supposed target.
These days, I wouldn’t put it passed the NYTs to be influenced by the likes of Carlos Slim.

Carlos Slim, a Mexican multi-billionaire, ranking between #1 to #7 in wealth in the world since 2010, rescued the NYT in 2009 (a $250 million dollar loan) when it was losing employees, ads and subscribers rapidly. With his right to invest activated, his now 16% of the family-owned company, the NYT does not have to worry about subscribers any more.
Jeff Bezos owns the WaPo and Warren Buffet has invested in several newspapers. Our chance with Trump is probably a one-time thing before our country is completely controlled by a few oligarchs, as is Mexico.
