A chicken was arrested after it attempted to cross a busy road.
The feathery bird was desperate to get to the other side of the tarmac in East Marketgait, Dundee, during rush hour but was stopped in its tracks after a motorist reported it to the police.
Officers rushed to the scene as they believed the chicken was "giving passing motorists cause for concern" and captured it.
They then took it back to the station in Tayside, Scotland, and appealed for its owner before contacting the Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA).
Taking to Facebook, the police force said: "The SSPCA has been contacted and will be attending to take care of the chicken until the owner is traced. Police are appealing for any information as to why the chicken was crossing the road."
I remember the good old days when a chicken could cross the road freely for any reason whatsoever.
Finally caught that fowl road crosser.
Any word on the suspect’s motive?
Imagine all the fines the owner will be charged with. I’d have all my chickens in the freezer when the cops came knocking.

To show the armadillo...it could be done.
But why?
Yeah, shoot to kill our dogs, but capture the chicken and ponder why it was attempting to cross the road. Wish they would put more effort in capturing dogs rather than to shoot them. The chicken was trying to cross the road to escape getting butchered!
You people still haven’t figured out why the chicken crossed the road?
Because you didn’t grill it!
