Finally, why release this news on a Friday evening during a hurricane? Optimum damage would have occurred on Sunday morning for the debate.

The NY Times/Sulzberger's Blog article was written by that little slime Nicholas Kristof. I think he laid claim to the hitpiece by seniority. He wanted to be the Sulzblogger to count coup on Trump.
