As a former professional photo-journalist I can assure a technician doesn’t give a hoot about the speech. What he cares about is tearing the shoot down and getting home in time for the game.
There is a yuuuge difference between the guys on the other side of the camera and the actors.
You will never meet a more cynical group of people in the world. They are a lot of fun. When they are not stepping in front of your shot.

Body language. Sitting, black tee shirt, sullen look on his face and arms folded across his chest, when the rest of the room is applauding. Maybe his girlfriend just dumped him.
Maybe someone stepped on his toe.
Maybe it was his day off and Slacker Sam or Malingerer Mary called in sick and so now he had to cover for them and his plans were spoiled.
Don't be a liberal. Don't take everything personally.

And it looks like he is sort of barking something at the guy to his left. But it kinda looks like he is joking around a bit, because the guy to his left looks like he’s smiling. Did the event run long or something?
