Looks pretty likely....
Long-suffering Cubs fan here. Hope the curse is over!
Why are you sad? Your team didn’t make into the playoffs?
Cubs won’t make NLCS. They shot their wad on the regular season and are on coast now. That won’t get it
Me too! Let’s Go Mets! (Oh please, oh PLEASE, Let’s Go Mets!)
Regards,
Well you got one wrong so far.
Bumgarner vs. Syndergaard matchup tonight should be a good one!
Classic pitcher’s duel in New York.
Oh, it is.
Giants finally get a hit.
Great catch by Granderson!
Probably the last inning for Syndegaard.
Hunter Pence blew it big time striking out with the bases loaded. Still 0-0.
BOOM!
Giants Win!
I think they’ll take the Cubs.
Bumgarner has now pitched 22 innings in post-season elimination games without giving up a run.
Actually make that 23 innings.
Well, it appears the Giants are headed to Chicago.
With bells on.
A couple of observations.
First, tonight was a good example of why I think a pitcher that makes hitters hit dribblers and pop-ups, like Bumgarner tonight often with just one or two pitches per hitter, is probably more valuable than strikeout kings because their pitch count is lower and go longer into a game than strikeout guys like Syndergaard who probably average more like 7-8 pitches per hitter and leave early like tonight.
Second, I’m concerned about the Giant’s pitching against the Cubs’ top-rated pitching. Seems like we hardly have three good starters and our once highly esteemed bullpen seems anemic. If Bumgarner were fresh for Friday’s start I’d feel better but I think the Giants face real challenges here.
