Hope you enjoy. Cruel To Be Kind
music *ping*
why do you post these pop-drivel songs?
Great pop tune! He was married to Johnny Cash’s daughter at the time. She appears in the video.
LOL. Nick Lowe put out a lot of good songs but I never considered this one of them. He was considered king of "power pop" though.
19679. MTV comes along in the 80’s. Musta’ got back together to make the video. Cute song but I prefer Barry Manilow.
Oh Mandy, well you came and you gave, la la la la........

Barry must have been singing about Mandy Patinkin.
I like this song a lot, it is superior “pop drivel.” But I need to say that the cover version by Letters to Cleo is much, much better. Haven’t been able to listen to Nick Lowe’s version since. Song is simply better sung by a woman.
I was always puzzled by the use of “two” different ministers in the music video. Lowe actually married the woman seen in the video. I wondered if both weddings were staged for the video or if some actually wedding footage was used in the music video.
June Carter Cash's daughter Carlene... who was at the top of her form - and smokin' hot, IMO - some years later.
Hell, I liked Nick's "Cruel to be Kind," thinking it was far superior to many Top 40 tunes of the time; maybe it was what Edmunds contributed to it. After the "Little Village" collaboration, I sort of lost interest in the guy.

Your second supposition is correct. Some of the video was staged and some comes from his actual wedding, which occurred the same day the fake wedding shoot was taking place.
I had a female friend in high-school who was just this YUUUUGE Barry Manilow fan.
His coming out of the closet a few years back must have crushed her.
You mean she couldn't figure it out?
She did not seem to ever figure it out.
She did marry an accountant and have 8 kids though.
Inconceivable.
Barry could’ve had 8 kids if he wanted.
