Walking through a high-crime neighborhood without fear of being shot is the ultimate white privilege. Belonging to a conquering culture provides a free pass on another races turf, an immunity from the violence that afflicts oppressed communities. Howard Street is the main drag of a neighborhood nicknamed the Juneway Jungle, or simply the Jungle, but Ive never been hassled there, even at 1 in the morning. I look so square that no one even tries to sell me weed.

I’m not worried I’ll be shot in Chicago either. Because I’m not in Chicago.
I bet he can’t say the same for his wife or daughter. They may not get shot, be they’ll wish they had been.
That is the best theory so far.
Anybody that believes this load of lies from WaPo should be sterilized with a dull knife.
Perhaps he would think differently if he were to hang out where the thugs do the killing among their own because not many Whites hang out there.
You would be shot for sure if you trolled the black community (as a white person) at night for 30-days in Chicago.... Go ahead and test that theory!
Howard Street? Try walking down 63rd and King Drive anytime day or night and find out what happens...
He’s right. I lived and worked in the Austin neighborhood the worst neighborhood on the West side. Most people were nice to me. Just because I was a curiosity. I knew a guy who was running a family “crew” and asked him about senseless killings. He told me yes a few were mistakes. The vast majority were targeted gang assignations. They knew addresses, license plates...pictures of their hits.
A decoy or a vigilante. Once they find out he’s just a lame asshate, they’ll take his money and blow his brains out.
Howard Street by the Jonquil Jungle is East Rogers Park, right by the Evanston border. It’s not great—I wouldn’t walk there at night and would need a good reason to walk around there in the daytime—but it’s hardly the worst now, and a far sight from what it was 25 years ago (when I heard gunshots in an adjacent alley while I was up on the Howard “L” platform one evening).
Now, let’s see him try that in some *real* ‘hoods...like North Lawndale, Englewood, Garfield Park, Auburn-Gresham, or Roseland. Been through all of those in the daytime—sometimes on foot—and it’s always a case of “do business—preferably before 3 pm—and GTFO”.
And for the record, it was called the “Juneway Jungle”, “Jonquil Jungle” or simply “The Jungle” loooong before that area went bad in the 70s. Before it sprouted apartment houses galore in the 20s, it was an undeveloped area with a “hobo jungle” (camp)...hence the name.
I think a lot of violence in black urban areas is essentially tribal. (gang on gang)
20 whites murdered in Chicago in 2015. The best way to get murdered is to walk into any black neighborhood.
In black Chicago all gang leadership is dead or in jail. It’s down to block by block small gangs. ....mostly blood relatives or tight knit pals they grew up with. So it’s chaos. One diss and it’s Hatfield’s vs McCoy’s.
Makes perfect sense.
That is what people devolve to without the rule of law.
It is the default position.
What I do not think or should I say know, is that's the reason for the uptick in violence in the Chicago.
The black neighborhoods have always been war zones. Even the ones the newspapers want you to believe are good. Black people and liberals idea of a safe neighborhood are FAR different than normal peoples.
The excuse about the Feds and CPD (not saying it is your excuse, I'm talking in general) have splintered these gangs because their leaders are locked up, and now the soldiers are fighting for power has no factual evidence to back it up. Gangs have always fought for power. It's not like if Hoover or Mickey Cochrane were alive/free there would be a peaceful black utopia where gangs exist peacefully. They are still f-ing gang-bangers!!!
I would like to see any evidence that proves the city was safer with less gang leaders dead or incarcerated. It's really a joke.
These people are violent, period. They were raised fatherless and beaten their entire lives. Be it by their parent or their siblings, friends etc. It is their accepted culture and they're are happy with it.
The kids were never truly loved. Often they were an inconvienece or a tool for money. It's not just Fatherlessness either, there is absolutely no positive male family member. (you never see kids raised by Grandparents, just Grandma)
Add in they were told by teachers, politicians and Mama that they have been cheated in life and you should feel sorry for yourself. This goes on from infancy through adulthood.
I've never seen a more confident and satisfied adult male in my life than the bustout ghetto dweller. He has always been told to be proud, don't accept personal responsibility. This man has nothing, has achieved nothing, owns nothing and deserves nothing, yet he feels like the king of the world. Weird isn't it?
One last tidbit about the ghetto folk.
You know how whenever Mookie, Duh-Andre, La-sha (pronounced Ladasha) get killed the news always show their graduation photo.
Well the reason for this is the news asks for a current photo of their loved one. You know, the one the families are all crying for and was a good kid and dearly beloved. They love them soooo much they actually have never taken a photo of them.
The only picture their loving family has is the free one the government provides at graduation.
