For over 3 decades my wife was the head office RN for a busy FP and later his group.
Many of their patients were former jocks/jockettes, who tried to continue their rigorous sports exercises into their 40’/50’s. This often resulted in some very serious self inflicted injuries or could have been.
They would come to the good kind old doc, a former college QB himself, asking him what to do.
They would describe the physical torture they inflicted on themselves and what can they do.
His answer was simple and to the point, “Don’t do that any more!” Then he would leave the exam room, my wife would repeat his medical advise, “Don’t do that anymore!”
Then, they got billed for this expert advice.
The only complaint I ever heard about the doctor and my wife came from those who said, “He told me not do X anymore, and he charged me. for saying that!”
Having been a recipient of “Don’t do that anymore” re my torn rotator cuff and meniscus”, and not listening before learning the hard way, I told them, that was the best medical advice they ever got.
Those, who didn’t listen, often ended up with knee and or hip replacements, expensive shoulder repair, then retearing their rotator cuffs after the repair. Sometimes even more serious health issues for not heeding the Don’t do that anymore.

Even worse than the middle to upper class patients in my post are the Darwin challengers who fill our ER’s with their stupidity with no insurance or Medical/Medicaid, which we taxpayers pay for!
Preach it my brother. I hate it. Makes me spitting mad.
