I need a built-in hottie suspended from ropes.
I started with a stand up desk over 10 years ago. My neighbor was getting rid of an old electric drafting table so I can easily raise or lower it to just the right spot. I will never go back to 100% sitting but...
My wife and I just discovered the answer to back and shoulder pain. I’ve been in IT for the last 30+ years and it is so fantastic we just had to go into production and put it up on the web for sale. If it helps one person like it helped me it will be worth the expense so far. Early reviews from our friends are very encouraging.
The site is still in its infancy but it works. If you are interested check out the link at the bottom of my home page.
Oh did say inexpensive... wish I would have figured this out years ago.
That would be a nice addition!
If were still working, I would be, right now instigating in favor of this chair, for the time when a used one might be available at a good price.
Still, I would have to justify the cost.
And that would be a hard sell.
If they don’t spend their budget, their budget gets smaller for the next year. Typical government policy.
I think the target is the C-suite.
After that, the cheapie clones will move it down the hill.
And it is paid for!
Have seen more than few offices with a recliner, off to the side behind the door, by the window.
Rank has it's privileges!
A setup like this is pretty close how I’ve worked in IT for 20 years now. Chair leaned all the way back legs up on the desk. I find it very comfortable and have zero neck or back problems.
A more senior guy at work moved on, I ask for his car and got it.An Olds!
From the first day my back did not like it!
I read the owner’s manual, tried all the possible positions.
First thirty minutes, nice, then down hill.
Nothing helped !
I ran into my former coworker, first thing he ask is about the car seat!
Was I glad to see that one go!
An old guy gave me his favorite ancient wooden chair with arms.
Comfortable, I used it for a couple of years!
Still have it.
The world famous Chinese basket!!!
That will cost extra!
Bring cash!
I do hope, you are not referencing Catherine the Great?
Even there I don’t see it getting a huge adoption... and as I stated the footprint means more floor space for a worker, which means needing more office floor space for the same number of users... so I don’t see it getting pushed down the ladder much... Or even that much adoption at the C level.
I guess if you are someone with back pain/issues maybe.
Like the famous Aeron, it’s a status thing.
Yes it is helpful for a few, but everyone?
I have used them for a few hours, and was not convinced.
Well the mesh chairs in general, were a step up.. not purely marketing status symbol hype...
This thing? I don’t know, I am sure a few folks will dabble with it, but just don’t see it changing things much... Where as the Aeron and its mesh type of back etc are nearly defacto standards in the industry (Sure most aren’t originals), but it did provide real tangible benefits beyond the hype.
This to me just comes across as one of those crazy runway designer show outfits that will never really be more than a buzz to grab headlines.
As I said, for someone with major back problems, I could certainly see them benefiting from not being in an upright position either sitting or standing all day... but everyone else? Not much.
A significant product-placement in one scene.
Shoot, my boss had me pick out a new office chair - I selected a semi-decent one for $200 (they’re often $450-$500 just for a vented ergo chair and that’s still cheap).
Of course they never delivered. I needed 2 white boards so that we could begin documenting their antiquated mess of a system in joint sessions. I shopped very wisely there, too, at the company-approved vendor - Total cost with erasers and markers: $93. They never would order those either.
The business made millions per year at just that one location. They wouldn’t spend one dime to keep it running though; not even active anti-virus. All the time, scratching their heads wondering why they had to pay $400 to recover one PC - yep, no media for the OS, either.
Hard to believe in this day and age. Yet I saw it in action.
