Global warming milestone as scientists warn Earth has passed carbon tipping point 'for good'

Atmospheric carbon dioxide has reached a historic threshold as levels remain above 400 parts per million through the end of September – the point in which values typically drop to their lowest.

Climate scientists now warn that it’s ‘almost impossible’ that these numbers will fall next month, and likely won’t dip below 400ppm in the foreseeable future.

While there may be brief, daily events in which the levels fall short of this amount, monthly values are set to keep climbing as the ‘rising half of the cycle’ begins, when carbon dioxide could even break 410 ppm.

CLIMATE CHANGE IS ALREADY CAUSING DEATHS

A new study has revealed the dangers of climate change are already affecting humanity and led to the death of hundreds of people across Europe sixteen years ago. A heatwave in 2003 killed 506 people in Paris and 315 in London, experts have said in a new study.

A fifth of those deaths can be blamed on man-made pollution.

The study led by University of Oxford scientists said there were 315 heat-related deaths in London as Europe experienced its hottest summer on record, out of which 64 were caused by climate change.

How is 400 ppm any kind of a record ?

The earth has had CO2 levels of at least 2500ppm during the Carboniferous Period, and life actually thrived !

"The science is settled" my a** !

Great news! If we’ve passed the tipping point, they can quit yapping about it.

There are more elements to global climate than just CO2 levels. The best explaination for the climate scientists position that we are forcing a period of marked global warming can be found here. As I've always maintained, the climate is too complex to plug into a model from what is currently known and we likely don't need to shut everything down and starve billions.

Well, 0bama only has a couple more months to lower the sea levels and heal the Erf, hold onto your wallet!

Below is the "5 year trend" carbon level graph from the Mauna Loa observation station in Hawaii. The red line plots the monthly values (it goes up and down with the seasons, with plants consuming CO2 during the spring and summer). The black line represents the seasonally-averaged values. Notice anything interesting about the last 5 months?

2500 ppm? Meh.

“Carbon dioxide concentrations dropped from 7,000 parts per million during the Cambrian period about 500 million years ago to as low as 180 parts per million during the Quaternary glaciation of the last two million years.” (wikipedia)

And yet, here we are.

CO2 levels increase as a result of global warming; they don’t cause it! Any global warming is caused by natural causes (the Sun is the major culprit), and as a result, CO2 levels rise. There is no tipping point due to CO2 levels being high, it is an after-effect. We now are in a global cooling trend that will see CO2 levels taper off, naturally. Man has very little to do with it. Very little. Blame plants/vegetation.

Whew! So that’s a done deal.

It’s too late to save the planet, so I don’t have to worry about it anymore.

What’s on Netflix?

I thought that the environmentalists think that it is a good idea if there are fewer humans on the planet. Now I am confused!

carbon as 0.04% of the atmosphere is catastrophic?

How much is natural and how much is man-made?

The hypocrisy and irrationality of the Left reached a crescendo when the militant advocates for all things green admonished intelligent and educated people to believe that this natural component of the planetary life cycle so needed by plants for photosynthesis, carbon dioxide, is actually hazardous and must be controlled.

The useful idiots believe this nonsense.

The fellow travelers use it to redistribute wealth.

Total bull$hit. The earth has had much higher CO2 levels in the past. In fact the earth has been very close in this currently ongoing ice age (we are in an interglacial period) to a critically low minimal level of CO2 where plants begin to starve and die due to lack of CO2:

Plants need CO2 and they obviously utilize what is being emitted from burning fossil fuels. But burning fossil fuels has also contaminated our oceans and fresh water lakes and rivers with levels of mercury that are contaminating the fish and other aquatic life to the point that it is now recommended not to consume fish more than once a week for adults and not at all for children. Why isn’t that fact being reported by the world news media? And just like the Fukashima radiated water that is being dumped into the Pacific ocean 24/7, where are the reports on the environmental affects of that disaster? Answer; there is no money to be made or shift of social control away from the people with those issues.

First though, they have to "settle the science".
