This article from Rhein Neckar Zeitung describes the travails of a culture-enriching bus driver in Germany who was thrust into the job with zero knowledge of the citys bus routes.

Mannheim Bus strays through the city driver didnt know the way
Mannheim. One bus driver waits for running passengers, another doesnt. One driver helps the elderly getting in, another one complains. Business as usual. But a bus driver being sent into the race completely ignorant of his schedule and his route is a new phenomenon. One reader told the RNZ about this very peculiar incident that took place in the late morning of August 26th.
Even as I entered the bus, there was already a commotion. The passengers said the driver didnt understand German and that he didnt know the route, Andre Holzheimer, who uses the line 710 regularly, explained. The line commutes between Brühl and the Mannheim Main train station and then goes back via Mannheim-Rheinau all the way to Schwetzingen-Hirschacker.
The poor man was drenched in sweat and said that this was his first day as a bus driver. Apparently they just sent him off without any intensive training. I felt sorry for the man, who was obviously of Arab background. We had to keep telling him where the stops were and where he had to stop, Holzheimer recounted. The whole thing was reminiscent of a scavenger hunt. Furthermore it was the nastiest bus in all of Mannheim, with numerous defects visible to the eye.

They seem to set a lower bar for the “culture enrichers”.
Part of the issue is that the public transportation system in Germany (I live here so I can speak to this) is absolutely refusing to increase pay scales. So a normal driver (a German) will do this for two or three years and come to realize that if he was lucky....he might see a pay-raise once every six to eight years. So they generally all shift over to railway driver, or private tourist bus for better pay.
Locally, here in the Rhine Valley area, they’ve taken to hiring contractor drivers from Czech. They bring them in and put them through a week or two of localized driving and then they are full-time drivers.
The big driving purpose behind getting immigrants into the country, is mostly to hold low-paying jobs at the same scale and be ultra competitive against the French, the Brits, and the Americans.
If you go to McDonalds or any of the low-knowledge jobs...there are only a limited number of authentic Germans in those jobs.
Driving the bus routes that Europeans don’t want to drive?
Do you know the way to Mannheim Main?
I’ve been away so long. I may go wrong and lose my way.
My theory is that no one WANTs to live in Mannheim. What a dump
People were moving out of metro Mannheim two decades ago...going east and west by 20 km.
