Siberian Huskies love to “talk” to their owners.

That dog is really ancient for a Husky. They don’t usually live very long.

My dog Chester was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer a couple of months ago. We took him to the park on Saturday and bought him a bacon double cheeseburger. Sunday he was a little listless and Monday he died. It’s kind of a tradition with us to try to make their last few days special. He was supposed to go camping with me this week, but never made it.

Wow, I’m really surprised to hear that! I raise German Shepherds, my oldest right now is an almost 11 year old 100 pound female, and a 11 1/2 year old 145 pound male who are both doing great and have had many 12,13+ year old dogs in my lines. I’m surprised huskies don’t live longer since they are significantly smaller. What do they usually die from?

Sorry for your loss. We’ve waited for well over a year since our Glory passed. We’re picking up her successor next weekend. (new Golden Retriever pup)

My Husky is one year older than the dog in this story. Got him the same year the person in this story did, only mine was a year old and theirs was a pup. I know my dog is 13 so theirs must be 12.

My Husky lived to 15, it was his hips that gave out in the end he was still eating but couldn’t get up. Great dogs.

My beloved Siberian Husky died peacefully in her sleep late last winter-she’d slowed down a bit over the previous couple of years, but still romped and chased squirrels. She was 17, and the best companion dog I’ve ever had-I miss her...

I’m sorry to hear that-I lost my 18-19 year old Maine Coon less than 2 months ago-he went to sleep and just stopped-losing two pets in a year is hard-I’m comforted by my other two cats-do you have another cat companion?

Losing a beloved pet is going to be hard regardless, but over time you’ll come to be thankful that he passed quietly in his sleep, on his own. It could have been much harder on both you and him.

We lost our kitty last Sunday night close to midnight. Courtney was 21 and a member of the family. She was a very small Tabby and loved to be held or sit on my lap for hours. Late Sunday she was moaning and could not move her back legs. Her old heart and arrhythmia created a blood clot that lodged in her back spine and prevented blood flow to her back legs. We suspected micro clots had been occurring over the last few months. It was a hard decision to put her down, but the vet said it would be painful to remove the clot and would likely keep occurring and suspected her breathing was also impacted by clots in the lungs.
I can completely sympathize that the house now feels so empty without her. My wife and I had her with us every waking moment. Courtney marked the passing of time for our family and our daughters growing up with her. Courtney always slept on the younger daughters bed when she lived at home and even our daughters are very upset at her passing. She was just a fury bundle of love.

I’m indeed thankful that both he and my Husky girl went on to the next adventure in their sleep-over the years I’ve been very lucky that most of my pets have gone peacefully in their own time, after a happy life...
