Booze doesn’t kill brain cells and vaccines are harmless?

Hmmm..

Particularly like the salt doesn’t make a difference in boiling but it may make it take longer. Which is it?

It does make a difference. Adding any amount of solute will depress the freezing point and raise the boiling point, as I'm, sure you're aware...

The salt raises the temperature at which the water will boil, so more heat needs to be added to raise the water to the boiling point. It takes longer, then, to add the requisite heat. The advantage of adding salt is the higher temperature, which will then cook the food more quickly.
