Appearances lately notwithstanding, FreeRepublic is a news forum, not a chat room.
We needed that.
It’s been at least 18 hours since we had any authentic Frontier Gibberish.
My cracker-crocker gannet dun flibbered summit!
I’ve been mostly done with college and pro sports for 5 years. Only game I watched last year was the Super Bowl. Probably will not watch this year, and I really wouldn’t miss the NFL or any other sports if they just went away.
DIY hobbies are much more enjoyable and productive.
Word of advice now: You shouldn't join a forum to guilt-shame its members to your way of thinking.
Well... at least not on your very first post.
Watching overpaid 300 lb behemoths beat each other up to advance a spheroid to the tune of overdone commercials in bad taste never appealed to me.
Some college football, that’s fine. Watch it with friends, place some penny bets, food & drink, that’s cool.
The reason the NFL is bigger than all the other US pro-sports combined is the huge number of casual fans. The modern product reflects the state of the general culture. It would be surprising if it wasn’t the most popular by miles, look around. The casual fans actually like the swishy celebration prancing and chest slapping, the glitz, the modern version of the product that promotes more offense. The NFL only became even more popular after all that stuff became the norm. What does that say about us?
Freegards
LMAO.
Is it football season?
Never noticed, more important things to do.
Bears lost a game they should have won.
I now figure they will be 2-14 rather than 3-16.
I’m in.
....John has a long moustache.$
“wounds my heart with a monotonous languor”
“There is a fire at the insurance agency.”
“’Hillary is seriously ill.”
Well said!
Is this a seminifrious tubeloidial noobazubric buttnoid thread?
If so, since you haven’t yet said, “And here’s to Cardinal Puff for the very last time” I’m not sure you recognize the very grave danger you face from the NFL.
I watched the second half of the NE Patriots / Arizona Cardinals game.
But good God, there are way too many commercials. I wouldn’t have minded if some of them were Trump ads, but there were no political ads at all, except one for my local GOP congressman, Bruce Poliquin (Maine Second Congressional District).
ZACTLY!!!
Piece of friendly advice—Don’t judge others based on your own shortcomings.
I am a Viet/Cold War vet.
During the Vietnam War, those buzzard overpaid football players went on strike.
This was in the day when FILM was the way we watched U.S. sports in the U.S.O.
Football strike equaled NO FILMS.
My base of duty was U-Tapao Royal Thai Naval Airfield, the home of the 307th Bomb Wing, the home of the B-52.
My fellow countrymen were working 12-hour shifts in the airwar against North Vietnam.
So, on their day off of donuts and coffee at the U.S.O., the National Football League, demonstrated just how great they hold in esteem, these hard working Americans.
No films.
Since that day, i have not watched ANY major football anything. The N.F.L. can ... KMELA!
Alright. I’m glad that there’s another non-football fan in FR land.
Congratulations .. first week posting and already showing your ignorance.
Yes I am talking to you.
Yer likely in for a rough ride here for awhile, noob . . .
