He was known as Crazy Eddie.
Eddie Antar, the electronics kingpin who once presided over a retail empire spanning four states, died Saturday, according to a family member. Antar's company was known for its frenetic television advertising of a seemingly crazed pitchmanbefore it all collapsed like a house of cards in a multi-million-dollar securities fraud.

He grabbed the money and ran to Israel.
I remember Crazy Eddie. His prices were INSANE!
Aliyah, or avoiding extradition?
Classic case for MBA students to study...
For fraud.
I dunno. I would never recommend doing business with an insane person. Hey, my name is Travis Bickle, ride in my cab. My prices are INSANE.
The times I did business at Crazy Eddie’s I had run into a lot of bait and switch.
It would seem to be a bad weekend for 68 year old. Crazy Eddie and Horrible Hillary were/are(?) both 68 years old.
Problem was, their prices were higher than the competition. If you didn't have an ad from a competitor, you overpaid for the merchandise. It was high pressure sales.
Will the pallbearers include Leaping Larry and The Wiz?
The changeable sign at the local head shop said, “Buy 3 pipes for the price of 3” today.
Back in the late 70’s there were electronic stores like that in Times Square ( among other things). Who would buy electronics in NY Times Square?
RIP.
The family took Crazy Eddy public, suppressing information about the company's actual financial situation as they did so.
Antar took the funds raised from the investors and absconded, after having been arrested and released after he promised to appear.
He was arrested in Israel and extradited back to New York. He got sentenced to eight years at Club Fed.
Well, there’s still Leapin Larry.
Thanks for the info. I didn’t remember him as getting off scott-free. He got off easy.. considering.
Kinda ironic when you think of it. Hillary not getting to 69.

People who had lots of cash to get rid of?
I always wondered that myself.
It’s like buying used fancy watch in the diamond district.
