‘I have mixed opinions on this and a couple other related stories. On one hand, it’s sad to see a commercialization of 9/11. On the other, it doesn’t seem bad to see different forms of expression towards commemorating it.’

That’s what I’m starting to think.

I’m all for them getting good PR — but not profits. They should give all profits to a charity on that kind of sale. If there are any profits ...

I don’t know...

On the one hand I don’t see this as overly-commercialized. The rollback is minor and the tiny signs are completely overwhelmed by the message of remembrance. I can see this display as a rightly in-your-face call to keep in mind just what was lost and in turn, by whom.

On the other hand, remember that the Twin Towers were chosen expressly because they were a symbol and center of American financial might. So in an odd sort of way, an increase in commerce seems like it could be a pretty good memorial in its own right.
