What’s the new leftist term, “microaggression”? No doubt some will use this to bash somebody, anybody. The hanging sign was probably enough, but you know, someone cared enough to build it that way, and a Walmart worker to boot. We defend Robert Mapplethorpe posters and books to exist, I think this is harmless.

Outraged that Walmart is displaying patriotism? Shaking my head in disbelief.
I agree, nice to see some patriotism and the flag, to remember the day.

“...using 9/11 to sell COKE.” This is precisely what I am referring to. The notion that business is vulgar is itself a vulgar attitude.
The towers are iconic. How is commemorating 9/11 with a display made of COKE containers in poor taste? If it were constructed with human skulls I would have a problem. COKE is benign. It is in no way offensive unless one is offended by business.

What the hell is the problem here? To be quite frank, most of America appears to have forgotten about the horrors of that day so it’s refreshing to see someone, anyone, putting 9/11 in the spotlight again.

So many things to be outraged about,...this is not one of them.

Damn idiots at Walmart. Smoking their own Chinese dope.

“Buying a product is repugnant.”
This is precisely the kind of salacious attitude that is used to denigrate Jews, merchants, and car salesmen. How repugnant.

Don’t see the outrage here. Now the mattress ad was in bad taste.

Agreed - what’s the big deal?
Its nice they are patriotic enough to mention it, in their way.

Memorial Day is a tough time for me.
My sincere condolences for any friends or family you may have lost in service to our country. And I am extremely grateful for the sacrifices you and your loved ones have made.
I struggle with my conscience every year as to whether the day should be a solem commemoration of death, or if it should be a celebration of the life and freedom so many died protecting.
Normally I reflect on two of my shipmates that are gone. I wonder what they would want me to do. Of course, they are Navy so it's not too hard for me to imagine their answer.
I set aside time prior to any celebration to quietly reflect on the sacrifices of my friends and of so many others. I then go about enjoying my day as much as I can.

What’s wrong with remembering 9/11? Too many have already forgotten it.

I don’t know...
On the one hand I don’t see this as overly-commercialized. The rollback is minor and the tiny signs are completely overwhelmed by the message of remembrance. I can see this display as a rightly in-your-face call to keep in mind just what was lost and in turn, by whom.
On the other hand, remember that the Twin Towers were chosen expressly because they were a symbol and center of American financial might. So in an odd sort of way, an increase in commerce seems like it could be a pretty good memorial in its own right.

Who said business was vulgar? I never did. Business is not vulgar but there is a time and place for it. That is called exercising judgment and taste. Combining the worst terrorist incident in America with a sales pitch was bound to offend someone.
Perhaps if we sold hoodies on the anniversary of the Ft. Hood massacre you would understand what seems perfectly clear to me.

I’m sittin’ here really trying hard to find something offensive about this but I’ve come up short. The “We Will Never Forget” makes it easier to accept....IMHO
