'If you take my spot, I'll get drafted, I'll go to Vietnam, and I'll die: Hillary recounts being yelled at by room full of men as she prepared to take law school admissions exam Clinton revealed she was one of the few women in the room that day The men said 'You don't need to be here, there's plenty else you can do' That was one of the moments Clinton realized she needed to control her emotions so she could focus on the test She realized this protection now might make her seem 'walled off', adding that women are 'seen through a different lens' then men
It was as she sat in a large classroom, awaiting to take the admissions test that would allow her to attend law school, that Hillary Clinton learned to control her emotions. The future Secretary of State would attend Yale Law School the next year, but on that day all she knew was this: a room full mostly of men were screaming at her. 'You don't need to be here,' they told her. 'There's plenty else you can do.'
'It turned into a real "pile on"', Clinton said in her revealing interview with Humans of New York. 'One of them even said: "If you take my spot, I'll get drafted, and I'll go to Vietnam, and I'll die." And they weren't kidding around. It was intense. It got very personal.' Clinton recalled noticing she was one of the few women in the room, remembered how nervous she already felt for the rest, how she 'wasn't sure how well I'd do'. 'But I couldn't respond,' she said of the men. 'I couldn't afford to get distracted because I didn't want to mess up the test.'

Hillary Clinton took her bar exam in the summer of 1973. The Selective Service announced the end of the draft on January 27, 1973.
More “pity me” horse crap. It’s hard to feel sorry for someone who’s complaining about the mood in the room as she prepares to take the law exam — on a free ride — at one of the nation’s (formerly) most prestigious law schools.
It’s what my kids would refer to as a “first world problem.”
In the 1930’s my mother got a physics degree in all male classes. I am not buying Hillary’s story
I
Being a man and having been in Colorado State University at about this same time before going into the military, I never saw any crap like Hillary describes. She is lying about this like she lied about “landing under fire,” in the Balkans and any other thing she has ever said.
Bullshit.
Weren’t student deferments were gone by the time HRC started law school?
Yeah, male test takers harass the women. Right.
Oh, I forget. Hillary is old. She is speaking of the dark ages, in 1969, when she wants you to believe male test takers routinely harassed the women. I suppose women under age 60 are supposed to believe this. Even younger women, in their 20's and 30's, are invited to believe Hillary was one of the incredibly courageous pioneers, dodging sniper fire on her way to classes at Yale Law School.
Hillary voters in their 20's and 30's probably do believe this.
As William Safire once wrote, “She is a congenital liar.”
She lies even when she doesn’t have to lie. It’s genetic.
She lies even when it’s a piece of cake to prove that she’s lying. She just keeps on lying because she has never been held accountable for it.
Was she under sniper fire when she took the exam.....
Anyone who believes anything out of this woman’s mouth is too stupid to vote
She can’t open her mouth without lying. I’ll file this one with her trying to enlist in The Marines and applying to the astronaut program.
And being named after Sir Edmund Hillary!*
*: she was born seven years before Hillary climbed Everest; he was a totally unknown New Zealand beekeeper at the time of her birth.
Anybody believe this BS
She is getting desperate
i think the Marines said no because of her vision, but i may be disremembering.
Mebbe it was Bill yelling at her - he was a real expert on draft deferments.
Good point. I'd not waste a lot of time canvassing the country for someone who remembers taking the LSAT with Hillary, but it would be interesting to know if she's ever told this story before.
There is always the possibility that some hyper-aggressive idiot started trash talking-- we'are talking aspiring lawyers here -- and a couple of sidekick idiots chimed in. It's possible Hillary started something with an ill-considered remark. People have been known to do stupid things. The story doesn't ring true, but stranger things have happened.
That said, it's a colorful enough story that Hillary would certainly have used it from time to time over the years. Has she ever told it before? One of her courtiers coming forward now with a cover story, and saying Hillary shared it with them 25 years ago, isn't going to count. The tale needs to have been in print before now to have any credibility at all.
> women are ‘seen through a different lens’ then men
“then”?
Sympathy for the Devil (not)
She’s full of it and making it up. I’m from the same era, and it wouldn’t have happened.
She dodged sniper fire to take the exam.
