Tom Hanks is perfect in the thrilling ‘Sully’

“Sully” breathtakingly depicts what may be the most remarkable half-hour in NYC history.

Six minutes after taking off from LaGuardia Airport on Jan. 15, 2009, Capt. Chesley “Sully”

Sullenberger (a terrific Tom Hanks) safely glided his disabled passenger jet onto the

Hudson River. In 24 minutes, all 155 passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.

Tom Hanks may seem decidedly leftist in his politics, but I believe that he's really a proud American in the truest sense. Witness his past works; "Saving Private Ryan", "Band of Brothers", "The Pacific", of course "Apollo 13" ... and now "Sully", a recent real life drama of how US Airways pilot Chelsey Sullenburger had *The Right Stuff* in taking a dying jetliner down to a (somewhat) soft landing in the Hudson River, with no casualties.

My departed Father was US Navy in the Pacific circa 1944-45, and in the last year of his life, 2010, he got to see a preview of "The Pacific" in Washington DC, as well as visiting the WWII Memorial ... both Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg were speakers at the event. It was sponsored (and paid for) by a wonderful organization called "Honor Flight" , who take VFW's to DC, all expenses paid, so that they can visit the memorials from which they gave the best years of their lives towards, as well as preserving our American freedoms.

Tom Hanks is a great actor. I love all his stuff and I’m sure I’ll like this one when I see it.

I watched the preview earlier today. It was very powerful.

It may be a good movie but this is not the critic to tell me to watch it. He wants Gone with the Wind banned because some thug got killed by a cop.

Plus it’s directed by Clint Eastwood.

Great to hear. Eastwood is an inspiration. At age 86 he continues to work and make quality product.

When I see Hanks depict Vietnam or Korea or Grenada veterans as heroes — when we foght Commies then I may change my mind

Till then he is a blowhard left wing creep trying to Glaum on as a veteran lover

I’ve seen the full 3 minute trailor, it looks good and shows the scrutiny Sully underwent in the aftermath. I don’t go to the theater much but think I’ll go see this one.

Hanks is a big-time liberal, but he’s usually not too obnoxious about it, unlike his wife.

Tom Hanks may “seem” leftist.

Ain’t no seem to it.....he and BFF Speilberg are bona fide red diapers but they know what sells

But make no mistake they are not your friends

They believe in a fuzzy gauze sepia version of an American good works everyman no different than a Kremlin mural or those old WPA american muscled worker murals one finds in public buildings from that era

See what they did at the WWII museum in New Orleans and infecting it with ad nauseum racism self reflection

Speilbergs harvard speech last year....that was good insight into his social crusader brain and self loathing

The crap they both fund

Clint Eastwood made this movie and that’s why to see it....he’s too big to be bullied by lefty studios that see our country as one big history of social injustice and religious bigotry

I still say “Bachelor Party” is his best film.

Sully walked down the aisle of a sinking plane to make sure all his passengers were off safely. There is a real American hero!

Tom Hanks may have an eye for roles that will appeal to the largest audience, but as a producer he was responsible for the HBO move Game Change which savagely and viciously portrayed Governor Sarah Palin as an emotionally unbalanced ignoramus.

He achieved this by taking the book Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, eliminated 85% of the book and concentrated the entire movie around Palin. All the information in the book that was less then glowing about Obama, Clinton and John Edwards was eliminated from the move in order to concentrate on the vilification of Palin.

I've never in my lifetime seen a more evil campaign to take down a politician then what was done to Palin, and I included Nixon in that thought. Don't let the Actor Hanks, who is just regurgitating words that are put in his mouth, blind you to the real Hanks who is liberal zealot of the highest order.

That was an amazing landing. The description by the co-pilot of how EVERYTHING had to go perfectly .. or else the whole thing could be a catastrophe by one of the wings dipping into the water and catapulting the plane upside down.

I loved that Sully actually walked us through the event; and I also liked the group of men who explained what they experienced on the actual flight .. I really was amazed at the true miracle at the whole event.

Yes, but I think that more critically, he just doesn't care.

"You think I'm a (fill-in-the-blank-leftist-namecalling)??? So What? I'm 86, and can buy and sell your liberal wussified a$$ 10 times over. Your Father was ***** your mother in the backseat of his 58 Chevy at the drive-in while my movies were on the screen. So Go P*ss Up A Rope."

You'll need to imagine that delivered with the right squint and gravelly voice....
