If Trump is such a weak candidate it is because you (establishment) would not listen to us (the base). We told you not to go forward with open borders we made it all very clear. Do not do this! We wrote letters, emailed and visited offices of Congressmen to stop it. The traitors conspired on every level to do it but we stopped them long the way because they wanted cheap labor and their Democrat friends wanted voters. We told you a holes not to do this. I read the article and Michael Gerson doesn’t really know what the majority of Americans think and feel.

They’re moving towards electing Trump, a total repudiation of the GOP establishment position the party has to compromise with the Left to remain politically relevant.

Trump has held fast to his views and come out on top. According to Gerson, its too much for most Americans. Apparently, they disagree with him.

Beltway pundits live in a groupthink bubble in which their visceral hatred of Trump and conservatives from their viewpoint, is shared by the rest of the country.
