When former Bush chief speechwriter Michael Gerson wrote a column for The Washington Post headlined “Cancel this reality show,” it sounded like just another anti-Trump column. Or is Gerson calling for a shutdown of conservative talk radio?
It's understandable that establishment Republicans would despise the dynamic of conservative radio talkers trying to yank party leaders to the right. But shutting them down? Does that sound like reasonable moderation?

I am used to it, being a Conservative where my own Governor (Cuomo) tells me that there is no room in this State for my Conservative beliefs.
That is one of the reasons why, for the first time ever, the "State of the State" address was given in his liberal, Socialist, protective womb called NYC.

Tim Graham of Newsbusters doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He said Trump makes Romney look like a rock-ribbed conservative.
I read the article and Michael Gerson doesn’t really know what the majority of Americans think and feel.
They’re moving towards electing Trump, a total repudiation of the GOP establishment position the party has to compromise with the Left to remain politically relevant.
Trump has held fast to his views and come out on top. According to Gerson, its too much for most Americans. Apparently, they disagree with him.
Beltway pundits live in a groupthink bubble in which their visceral hatred of Trump and conservatives from their viewpoint, is shared by the rest of the country.
And if they’re wrong, they’ll never admit it.
I agree with you about Trump and anger, but let me rework this idea of "anger" a bit and see if you don't agree with it.
There is nothing wrong with anger. Jesus Christ got angry plenty of times. Without anger, things remain the same and we have the typical P.C. line: "can't everybody just get along?"
So I love that Trump is angry! It shows he has substance and stands up for what he believes.
What Hillary and the GOPe are trying to say is that Trump is not only angry, but he's having a temper tantrum. They say he's not civil. But that's not what I'm seeing. When Trump gets angry, it's for good reason. He and every American deserves to be angry.
We know why the Democrats are saying Trump is angry and racists -- because that's how they fight, by distorting the truth and name-calling.
Now the GOPe, on the other hand, is mightly upset that they lost power. With good reason the whole Bush wing of the party hates at Trump. And that's a very rational hatred for what Trump has done, exposed the elitists for what they are and take the Lehmann Brothers/Golden Sacks cookie jar from them.
But Trump is willing to tolerate the loss of the hardcore GOPe and Bushies. That's why he's on a full-court press to win over traditional blue collar, black Dems, etc. And certainly a Pence was chosen to appease the GOPe who could be won over.
So I understand the butthurt that comes from twisting some Bushie kilts out of whack. But that step had to be taken, otherwise Trump could never be credible in saying he's fighting the establishment.
If Jeb! and W and Mittens and Cruz should suddenly endorse Trump wholeheartedly, that's when we need to watch out!
Trump is no more angry than the majority of America. No more than I am. It was known years ago that our government was unable or unwilling to look out for American citizens and doing no more than building themselves up at our expense. DJT has given voice to the persons who have wanted to speak out in anger, and in doing so, they were never heard. HE HEARS US and magnifies our anger that others will at last hear it and (possibly) actually listen. When angry people find their so called allies are actually involved with the mob, they eventually find themselves to be just as angry with them and their attempt to play both sides of the fence. That they are also gone with the wind would that be discerning? Would that be advantageous? Would it matter? So many ‘conservative’ talking show heads were nothing more than artists wearing their mask to avoid showing their true core and beliefs. If Donald were unable to express his anger, we would not have seen him progress this far in so short a time. Anger can oft times bring focus and perhaps even solutions to a nagging problem. It is not anger which is important....it is how an individual handles the anger within him.

I agree with your assessment of groupthink - I think that is part of the pollution cycle of Washington D.C.;
also, I think that same groupthink impacts on the new, incoming freshman representatives, and stays with them throughout their term.
Thank you for reading the entire original article- too many times we take shortcuts, and only get half the information; this article infuriated me because of the arrogance.
In the UniParty, there is no recognition that the rise of Trump is from a dissatisfied electorate.
Both parties promise so much, and then fail to produce.
I think this attitude is prevalent , and the politicos within the beltway have no understanding of what people outside the beltway think.
The only time they consider the people who elected them there is when they look for re-election; they consider the most important function of their job is to get re-elected

In this country ,we have the First Amendment rights for all citizens
It exists no where else .
That's why O'Bungler is willing to give up the control of the internet to those not in this country - it could stifle our ability to communicate ideas.
Even though he and Klintoon complain about talk radio and Faux news, the internet represent the only direct communication Internationally available to the common citizen.
Even Faux news has been compromised, lately.
Call your Congress critter because they reconvene on September 6th- and only they can stop the transfer of the internet.
