A friend had a 2” caliber one mounted to the roll bar on his jeep.
He became intrigued when he saw one on the internet.
I’ve see some really sophisticated ones. I’d use ABS over PVC though as it’s less prone to shattering.

I mis-read this as high capacity CHIPS.
That's even funnier. Thanks.
Does the smaller kid's version shoot Tater Tots?

Potatoe guns are pretty cool. I made mine years ago for about $15. Just sort of kills the idea of gun control when you can make a relatively effective shotgun at Home Depot.
When my son was in Little League, I made one powered by compressed air. 3" PVC is perfect for a baseball. I mounted it on a tripod and used it as a pitching machine. It was great for launching pop flys as well.
I measured the speed with a radar gun on the last one I made. 20 psi - 41mph, 30 psi - 77 mph, 40 psi - 103 mph.
They were scared of the boom it made at first, but then it didn't phase them.

I was told that the potato gun is a prohibited explosive device under ATF rules and had to discontinue my back yard target practice since I have an active duty City police officer living next door.
Cool as it was, I’d sure do some research on it before I started up again.

How can you -not- LYAO given the “neighborhood dictator” comment.
Really. If FR is anything, it is excellent entertainment and we should never take ourselves too seriously.

1 1/2 PVC DWV caliber. Please do not post such misinformation on the internet!
Some child somewhere would be ill advised by your erroneous design specifications!!!
DWV (DRAIN,WASTE and VENT) is not intended for pressure applications.
Schedule 80 PVC would be a better choice.
If you are concerned with the loss of I.D., use 2" Sch 80.

No, Quaker Puffed Wheats & Quaker Puffed Rice were the cereals that were shot from guns, accompanied by the 1812 Overture cannon finale. I remember the commercial.
There was even a cannon on the cereal box. This was before the 1968 Gun Control Act, of course.

A ban on Idaho Russet potatoes? New potatoes, or Yukon Gold potatoes? Might even be sweet potatoes.

Someone told you wrong. There are no federal regulations regarding potato guns per ATF.
Some municipalities outlaw them. You should ask your city officer neighbor to produce the law in writing.

Potato guns should be strictly regulated, and only issued to those who have attained the rank of Kernel.
