(Full title):Meet the man siphoning money from Donald Trump- A 25-year-old with no Trump ties raises $1 million by dangling 'dinner' with the GOP nominee.
At a glance, the two websites look virtually indistinguishable. Both feature a photo of Donald Trump, in a suit and red tie, in front of a giant American flag. Both seemingly offer a chance for two to win dinner with Donald Trump.
One is at donaldjtrump.com; the other is at dinnerwithtrump.org.
The first belongs to Trumps campaign. The second is a scheme run by Ian Hawes, a 25-year-old Maryland man who has no affiliation with Trump or his campaign and who has preyed on more than 20,000 unsuspecting donors, collecting more than $1 million in the process.
In just its first three weeks of operation, Hawes PAC spent more than $108,000 on Facebook ads, offering an opportunity to win Dinner with Donald Trump and netted itself nearly $350,000 in donations, according to federal records.
The biggest chunk of the money raised $133,000 went to a company that Hawes founded and owns, CartSoft LLC. The purpose of the payments is described on federal records as media and media purchasing, though CartSofts website describes itself as an online payment-processing platform.
Since its launch, the PAC has collected more than $1 million, Hawes told POLITICO. It has reportedly spent $0 on behalf of Trump.
I feel ripped off and taken advantage of. This is horrible. That was not my intent, said Mary Pat Kulina, who owns a paper-shredding company in Maryland and gave $265 to Hawes group. Kulina thought she had given to Trumps campaign until told otherwise by POLITICO. This is robbery,

I would have made a PAC to siphon money from Hillary, but I like walks in parks and returning from them...
This is like the letters that came out of Vietnam....Hi my name is, and you might be my father, please send me, so I can fly to see you...
Yeah right, dinner with Trump, are you kidding me, that man is to busy to have dinner with his own family and these people think he is going to take time out of his schedule to have dinner with him??? Are any of us going to get invited to the White House after he wins...NO...and we don’t expect it either...
Some people just don’t have the sense a pea was born with...
This is why we only give to the
https://secure.donaldjtrump.com/donate-homepage-rpd
web site. We don’t give to the RNC, NRCC, NRSC, Heritage, .... any more. If Donald Trump wants to share the money, that is ok with me, but he gets it first.
It's fraud, wire fraud, and a couple of other things that will put the jackass that did it in jail (deservedly so)
Half the population is below average. Never forget this.
Bad, but this is peanuts compared to the hundreds of millions the Clintons have stolen from the people of the USA.
I get lots of solicitations, i.e., donate $3 and fly to NY for lunch w/Eric Trump, now the dinner with Donald. AND lots of others. I always check the source. Won’t give to anything other than the Trump campaign. Screw the RNC. And, especially, screw this brat. I hope he does time.
Oh I missed out on those, but I do get a lot of offers from MRS NUBUNDO THE WIFE OF THE FORMER SUB-MINSTER OF MINES IN ROWANDA to give me 10% of $25,000,000 if I just let her put the money in my bank account for a little while. Why do they use all caps?
“Who really reads the fine print?
Those who do want to get ripped off.
Donald Trump should send out a tweet telling everybody that this is a scam. Also, even though Trump is under no obligation to do this, he should offer to refund anybody who was taken in by this scam or make a donation to his campaign out of his pocket so the people who were taken in feel better about it. It would just be a goodwill gesture that should pay dividends far beyond what he puts out of pocket. Then go after this crook and put him behind bars!
Rule of thumb: Only donate on the official Trump website!
This is robbery,
“It’s fraud, wire fraud, and a couple of other things that will put the jackass that did it in jail (deservedly so)”
It seems the fine print explains exactly what they are doing. If they reveal what they are doing, and fulfill their obligation, it is not fraud.
This is L A W S U I T time .. this guy has no clue who he’s dealing with. Trump’s lawyers will have a field day .. and I think this guy could do jail time ..??
I see the “Dinner with Donald Trump” site on Facebook ADs all the time.
There were a bunch of crooks using Ben Carson’s name to raise money his campaign never saw.
The “draft Carson” scam comes to mind.
Not a chance, no, as it is clearly spelled out in the fine print.
The site is also offering refunds upon request.
I remember an ad from years ago...
“ATTENTION!
Today is your LAST CHANCE to send me $5.”
This was followed by a name and address.
People sent money.
The guy who placed the ad was arrested and jailed. Can’t remember the charge.
That would be the one!

I have received numerous emails to have lunch with Eric. Like you I give directly to the Trump campaign. I am very suspicious of everything.
