In rural St. Tammany, Red Bull, crystal meth and a militia man's bunker

At the tiny Talisheek Grocery in rural northeastern St. Tammany Parish, James R. Moore Jr. was a regular, coming in twice a day to buy as many as eight 12- to 16-ounce Red Bulls for his own consumption. Many suspected he also had a drug problem, according to store owner Tracy Moore, who said she is not related to Moore but has known him since childhood.

Still, she and a friend said they were shocked to learn that Moore, 46, had been arrested by an FBI-led SWAT team and accused of being major methamphetamine dealer and militia leader with access to a stockpile of weapons. "We knew what he was doing," Tracy Moore said Friday (Aug 26), referring to suspected drug abuse. "Everybody knew. I had no idea the extent of it."

As for Moore being a leader of the Louisiana Tactical Militia, as federal authorities allege, Tracy Moore said she had no clue. "I know everything people talk about around here," she said. "It's a small town. From their gastrointestinal troubles to their dope problems. Nobody every said anything about that."

She said James Moore, who lives nearby, never talked about guns or carried one as far as she knew. "Everybody is in shock about the whole militia thing," she said.

It turns out that the FBI had been onto Moore for seven months, having learned of his activities during what federal authorities describe as a domestic terrorism investigation. In January, a tipster told investigators that Moore was dealing large quantities of crystal methamphetamine, possessed a large cache of weapons and "designed his house to be a bunker with ports for weapons to be fired from cover," according to a sworn affidavit signed by FBI agent Kevin Miller and filed in U.S. District Court. The tipster also said Moore "claimed

Read the whole article. It sounds like most of this is a load of B.S. I doubt this guy was even in a militia, except maybe in his mind.

There is a link to this militia's facebook site at the link.

I suggest reading the affidavit too. The guy looks like a garden variety meth user and dealer who likes to talk big to try to intimidate the people he is doing business with.

Methamphetamine is a real scourge.

Affidavit

BTW - hats off to some brave undercover guys!

If there is a “militia” on this continent I would bet 80% of it’s members get a monthly check from the FBI, ATF, DEA, etc., etc.

I find it interesting that on any given prior visit to Facebook I always get restricted from browsing/advancing and looking around until I register or log in but at that page you can view and peruse everything.

Rule 1 for starting a militia: Don’t advertise for members on Facebook.
Rule 2: Don’t use meth; don’t deal meth; don’t be involved with drugs or drug users of any kind.
Rule 3: Dont brag about how many guns you have; illegal stuff you’ve done in the past; and your future specific plans.

This guy was a fail on every count.

“designed his house to be a bunker with ports for weapons to be fired from cover,”
= = =

And there is a law against that????

And what is a port for a weapon, a WINDOW???

Or worse: a small, elevated, vision-restricted, horizontal weapons port (a bathroom window).

Makes me want to go poop!

But better keep my head down.

I did a quick read and I did not see anything about a “militia”.
