New performance cars usually have traction, brake and stability control. Those controls cannot overcome physics in bad conditions, but add safety if you are not an insane driver. Older 60’s and 70’s muscle cars had poor handling, brakes and suspension. The drum brakes and brake fade were frightening. I think they are the most dangerous.

I have a 1979 Corvette L-82. It was great in its day but you are right. When driving, it is pay attention time as if you get in trouble it won’t save your behind.

The key is the tires. A fair amount of these cars come with various grades of ultra performance summer tires. Some of those tires turn into racing slicks after several thousand miles. Hit something like gravel or standing water on a curve and around you go..
