The key is the tires. A fair amount of these cars come with various grades of ultra performance summer tires. Some of those tires turn into racing slicks after several thousand miles. Hit something like gravel or standing water on a curve and around you go..
On my Mercedes C300 4-Matic I have two sets of wheels for summer tires and winter tires. I live in the Colorado Rockies so the conditions always change. My summer tires are wider than stock and the tires are Michelin Pilot Super Sport. They are almost slicks so I have to go slower than usual in rain. Yesterday we had a front come through and heavy rain. There was water flowing across the road in spots and sand/gravel washed across the road. I had no trouble because I know that happens here and don’t push my luck.
